sounds like everyone is breaking up... I've heard that ppl tend to seek relationships in the winter and end them in the spring; must be something to do with cold nights or something, and all the holidays, too.

Well it seems like people are finding their place and the people around are either in the way or to inflexable to change.

I'm in the process of ending a 14 year marriage with 2 kids. Fortunately we both are being very adult and working through the process as friends and parents.

Wintermute...it must be tough for you right now....but least it is being handled in a civilised manner....My mum and dad's divorce finalised at christmas. I can't say that went through in a particularly civilised way though*L*

I must say it's easier than staying together when you both know it's over and has been for a long time but neither wants to be the first to admit it. I took the high road and became the bad guy. I'm actually much happier now. :D

This isn't really a confession, but I just need to get this off my chest, at least for a short period of time.

I've wanted to be a physician since I was 13, so I never really considered any other career possibilities. Now that I'm a first-year in college I'm taking the first set of pre-med requirements and everything seemed relatively fine and dandy.
Monday I went to this seminar that had a representative from UMass Medical School speaking, saying what we should do if we want to go to med school. Leadership, volunteering, waiting to apply until I'm 26 or so, going abroad, working in a team...this I can all do. What I'm starting to worry about though is what I'm going to major in. I was considering majoring in theater and minoring in spanish (because you can technically major in anything), but the way she was talking, a major in an art wouldn't really be the best for med school. But I can't think of any other major I'd be happy in. I'm okay at biology, but I'm more an anatomy person and we can't really major in that. I'm in such a pickle. I guess I should go talk to my pre-med advisor sometime before the end of the semester, but with all the pre-med requirement classes I need to take, there really isn't much space for dabbling in certain majors.

Thank you everyone!!! It's nice to know there is someone one can go, be unknown, and get some good advice... I still haven't made my decision, and I just don't know what to do... I begged for this chance, and know that I have it, I'm scared... I have butterflies, and I don't think they are the good kind... mostly because I feel kinda sick...

I don't want to hurt him anymore... I don't want to be hurt anymore either, but I need to do what is right for me... and I just don't know what that is... I wish I did... that would make things so much easier... :rolleyes:

When I think of the way he opened up to me on the phone ... I just can't believe it... I don't think he's ever been that truthful, and maybe that scares me too... the depth of his feelings...

I'm still friends with the other guy...
I let him do things to me that only my b/f had done...
Things I promised my b/f I wouldn't let anyone else do...
But it all just happened...
A couple of times... it was never planned or really talked about...

And yet, he still wants me back... I don't know what to do... I know he can be mean when he's mad... what if he uses that against me in anger? Calls me a slut? I couldn't handle that. Because I am not a slut... I was horny, my friend was horny... that's all it was... I like the guy... he's nice and he's funny... he's good to cuddle with... I needed that so much... I needed to be held more than I needed the sex...

I just don't know what to do...

Wintermute...I can understand what you mean. My parents are both much happier now than when they were together making each other miserable. You have to move on. You can't just hang about hoping things will get better..you did the right thing and set the wheels in motion. :)


I don't know if i have any good advice for you college geek but I would advise you to go and find someone who can give you good advice :) However don't do a subject because you think you should..make sure you do something you enjoy or you will find yourself being dragged down by being stuck in a subject you don't really enjoy.

For SSL-
One month isn't that long...I'd think both of you wouldn't really have a good idea of what is best after only a month. If he's not willing to give you a lot more time to think about...without any rules attached (as in you have to be chaste during the decision period)...then it would seem to me that he doesn't want you back that badly. If I truly wanted to be with someone again after I broke up, I would hope that I would give them all the time in the world to make the right decision, but not stop my life waiting for them. Granted I have no experience in this situation, so these are pretty much idealistic views.

Yeah, I know I shouldn't major in something because someone tells me to, but it's so difficult because we're all running this rat race to get into med school and the way they make it sound is that if you make one mistake along the line, you're screwed for the rest of your life. It's quite depressing.
