Update

On 8/10 I managed to tear a muscle in my chest. Called the doc the next day to get a muscle relaxer to help get it out of spasm. Was referred for a chest x-ray to make sure I hadn't broken a rib in the process. While waiting for results, a CT tech came out and said they were going to do a CAT scan. Had the scan and talked to the radiologist. He saw some abnormal lymph nodes in my chest. I was referred to a pulmonologist. Ordered a PET scan just on a whim, expecting it to be negative. Had the scan on 8/24. Unfortunately it came back positive and I have now been referred to a cardiothoracic surgeon for biopsy and removal of the nodes.

Several possibilities: histoplasmosis (a fungal infection due to and indigenous fungus in the soil in the midwest), sarcoidosis (an autoimmune disease affecting lymph nodes and lung tissue), or lymphoma (Hodgkin's, or non-Hodgkin's type...either way a possibility of lymphatic cancer).

The appointment with the surgeon is 9/6. I'll keep you posted.

Well, here's hoping it is the fungus infection (as that sounds least serious). I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

Don't go driving yourself nuts thinking about this.....bad time to be a nurse, huh?

There is also the outside possibility the machine that did the test burped, or maybe your nodes are different to begin with.......have had experience with those lung fungal infections, nasty little boogers. I'm gonna keep my thoughts focused that this will all turn out as just a wake up call, telling you ain't 18 any more

THey are transporting people from N.O. to St. Louis and DUMPING them on local charities to take care of and house.. No financial supports..

I can tell you from the sad past experience with Charlie, carpetbaggers come out of the woodwork and the government is all promise and very little action.....would you beleive there is still a huge storage lot of whilte FEMA trailors that has never made it to victums of Charlie not 45 minutes from where Charlie came ashore? Minimum of 50, maybe as much as 100 2 bedroom mobile homes that has just been sitting there for the past 6 months or so. And yes, there are still people here homeless from Charlie.

*We have to move again and I am not a happy camper. The landlord is getting out and selling our house before the bubble bursts. We have not even been in the house a year. I can't seem to get motivated to pack.

*I am really tired of Nigel's work schedule. Its hard to feel connected at times. Lately, I have been increasingly frustrated about it because I feel like so much of my time is spent alone, without him, and there is no way to resolve that until he is able to find a better position. I just miss him.

*I have some nagging insecurities which are really bothering me.

*I need to find another job, but it boils down to trying to find one in the social work field that would pay me as well. It isn't happening, so I feel trapped. I don't like feeling like I don't have good options.

NG - it was more than great to see you post - we really miss having you around. And it sounds like you could use a little of TC's TLC. Life sucks sometimes and there are basically 2 things you can do about any situation; change the situation or change the way you think about the situation. If you are spending too much time alone, then find something to do. Didn't you say you were an artist? Maybe something like volunteering to teach art to inner city (do they still use that term?) kids could satisfy at number of levels. The work thing is a personal choice; I worked 15 years in a field I wasn't overly fond of because the $$$ was just to good to pass up. But some forced down time brought a good deal of reflecting time. And for me, the $$$ was a pretty dumb reason for me to give away my time....my time that was being spent doing something I didn't like.....time that I would never get back.

Every time I drive past those trailers, just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. And after all that happened here in FL last year (4 storms), you'd think the gov. and all those agencies that request $$$ would have figured it out just a bit better. Perhaps a little OJT is called for....all those paper pushers should have to sit through one of those storms, see their home vanish, lose all material items, then have to spend the next 30-60 days in search of things like food, water and shelter (BTW, their job was blown away too) then maybe they might begin to understand what is needed and how soon.

Politics is a business. Not there for you and I any more than Walmart is...they are there to make $$$.
