Tibetan Buddhists believe that saying the mantra (prayer), Om Mani Padme Hum, out loud or silently to oneself, invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion. Viewing the written form of the mantra is said to have the same effect -- it is often carved into stones, like the one pictured above, and placed where people can see them.
Spinning the written form of the mantra around in a Mani wheel (or prayer wheel) is also believed to give the same benefit as saying the mantra, and Mani wheels, small hand wheels and large wheels with millions of copies of the mantra inside, are found everywhere in the lands influenced by Tibetan Buddhism.

Oman gave the best translation there is. I like to think of it as an indiscriminate wish for the well being of all creatures. And when one wishes well for all, one wishes well for those they know and love.

Good Morning to all. Enjoying the morning coffee and sunshine here. Been in Michigan for the past couple of weeks enduring snow and cold. But this morning promises to to be sunny and reasonably warm.

The trip was made due to my mother being put in the hospital. However that has had a good conclusion and she is back in her home. She is, however, quite old and independent living is surely slipping away for her.
I'll return to the coast this coming week but I fear there will be more such trips in the next couple of years. My sister lives here and looks after mom very well but she needs a break from that responsibility occasionally.

She had an episode of serious confusion and hallucination triggered in part by depression that lingers each Christmas over the death of my father. They were married sixty years and he died the day before Christmas. So that's pretty rough stuff for any of us at any age.
But she's gathered herself very nicely and she and my sis are looking forward to a trip out to the west coast for a visit to paradise where I just happen to live.

Hi everyone...
I just wanted to take a minute to stop in and say hello. I miss you guys! Things have been busy here... my daughter is not doing well. She has had four episodes of vomiting (for 5 days each time) in the past two months. I took her to a pediatric GI doctor this past Friday, and she goes in for the whole barium/upper GI test on Thursday. She has had to have her blood taken a couple of times... she is such a trooper. Needless to say, I am very worried about her and nervous and probably a bit irrational on top of that. She has lost a lot of weight and is just not herself lately.
There are some things going on in my personal life as well that need my attention, but it is hard right now.
I hope you are all doing well and things are working out for everyone.
