A thread for those who hang out both here, and on TV Tropes. (I'm posting it in this section because I think there's probably the most overlap among authors--the people who hang out in the general section seem like they've probably never heard of it.) Anyways, the first story I posted here was originally written for an erotic fiction contest there, and I still think the site's a useful resource for any form of storytelling.

Edit: Probably ought to explain this for people who're unfamiliar with the site--it was originally an offshoot of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fansite, created when someone decided to keep track of all the storytelling trends and cliches that show parodied. Then it started tracking those trends in other TV shows, and eventually, in other forms of media. Look through it long enough, and you'll find a lot of articles about things you've seen all the time in fiction without ever consciously noticing. If you've never been there, take a look at it.

Edit to the edit: Perhaps I should also mention that I'm the one who originally wrote Literotica's page on TV Tropes, linked here, and added most of the tropes. (Incidentally, the list's a bit sparse due to my lack of knowledge about certain sections--if you hang out a lot in Mature or Celebrities, and you've noticed a trope I've missed, feel free to add it.)

You're exactly right! Actually, I'm there right now, in another window ;)

I'm so happy I found TVTropes, even if it was by accident. Like you say, it's a useful resource for a writer, especially for setting me straight on narrative and character construction; why I think the way I do when it comes to creating fiction. Also, it serves as a great shorthand for when I'm writing notes or whatever, and I want to save time.

The only problem I can see is that the whole damn wiki is an immense timesink, and I've lost hours of valuable writing time wiki-walking my way through the place... Like right now, for instance ;)

I love that site, even though it is a massive timesink. I've found it great for finding out about (in a roundabout way) films, anime, manga and games I hadn't previously heard of.

I keep hoping I'll see mention of my own books in the Horny Devils section at some point. I'm still too much of a minnow at the moment :).
