Tricky Character

I think this is the right forum for this

I'm a new member and have started working on my first story, which is about a kinky gay couple in a medieval fantasy setting

There's a character I'm struggling to work out how to develop

He starts off as not very nice. Meets the other main character and basically thinks "I want to fuck this and I don't care how he feels about it."
The only reason he promises himself he won't rape him is because if he breaks the law he'll be expelled from the Guild of Assassins.

But he ends up, later in the story, falling in love with him.

How do I turn him from a rapist into a loving boyfriend, without just suddenly completely changing his personality in a way that's not at all believable? I want the change to be gradual and flow smoothly, not make the reader think "what - that's not what this character is!"

It needs to make sense

I think I need to find a way to make this character vulnerable, expose his soft side
Not sure how though

I'd be really grateful for tips or ideas.

Some more details about the character:
He's half human half demon
He'd in the Guild of Assassins and is trying to behave himself so that he can soon graduate into an arch assassin (basically a position of leadership)
He has a dragon who, even at the beginning when he's still an asshole towards everyone else, he loves very much (his love for his dragon is his only soft spot at the beginning)
He's very into BDSM, and is always the dominant
He views other people as either something irritating to avoid or something sexy to dominate
He's committed rape so many times that he's been warned by the guild if he breaks the law again he'll be expelled (hence his decision not to rape the other main character)

The goal:
I want him still to have the same personality towards everything else, his still gotta be the tough one, the dominant one, and cynical towards the world
The only change will be he'll love the other main character, not just want sex, and he'll want to care for and protect him
He'll have a soft spot for him, the way he already does for his dragon
Just not sure how to make it happen

If you want him to retain his basic personality (and guild activities), you might work on the other character more than him. Make him challengingly arousing to the other character and have the other character start to accommodate to his personality--slowly buckling under his influence. Two evil people can have a loving relationship with each other. A "they all are Father Teresa in the end" ending, although good for ratings here if you could pull it off, won't really work within your parameters. I think going the other way with the other characters is the creative story way to hold what you seem to want to do together. I'd certainly find that a more interesting, fresh approach.

(By the way, watch to see if this gets moved to Story Ideas. The Mod here flips off posts at the drop of a hat, and, technically, the discussion on Story Feedback is marked--in the forum slug--as discussion on stories already posted to Literotica.)

And thanks for the advice, but the only problem is my other character can't be evil, he's super 100% good

Essentially the opposite to the tough character.

Having the tough character turn into a 'father tereasa' isn't what I'm aiming for, he's still gonna be twisted and hateful, just with the exception of caring for the nice character (and his dragon)

Good people do fall for evil people and stick with them. This is a classic situation.

So to stay within your very (very) restrictive parameters, I'd say that what you have to do is to make the evil one so sexually attractive (you did say this was a GM one, didn't you?) that he becomes fully dominated by and sexually lost to the evil one.

(If the evil one isn't going to change basic character, though, he can't go any further toward seeing this as a loving relationship than to have an overwhelming sexual need for the good one himself--he can't really have a soft emotional spot for him; to be believable it would need to be the sexual pull of him--an evil man getting off on fucking good--unless you can pull a rabbit out of the hat on it, which is always a possibility).

And, if you are expecting to get a happy ending out of this to please the voters, I'm afraid I'd have to say you are expecting too much with the parameters you've set. I can see it being a good story, though, and would be interested in reading it.

You mention he doesn't rape the guy-because he is worried about getting in trouble-so...he's not a rapist.

So what you have to do is simply go with the "Cruel intentions" motiff. he approaches the guy and turns on the charm and pretends to be something he is not, decent.

This is all an act to get the guy into sex, but as he keeps his act up he finds he is developing feelings for the guy, that the "good" is wearing off on him a bit

You can keep him a bad ass and an asshole, but he is nice to him, like he's his weakness.

Shouldn't be that difficult....and I think that's what is hurting you, you're telling yourself it will be. Just get it started and let it unfold, stories usually have a way of working themselves out.
