I took my kid to the El Capitan in Hollywood to see this turkey. It's been bombing at the box office, but I have a friend doing a voice, and my kid loves the Gameboy game, so we went. And, you know what? It was pretty damned good. Say what you want about Disney being evil to their employees and their movies being too sugary, but they hire good writers and good artists. This was a very clever, very well done, and very touching film, and I can't understand why it's tanking.

Anyone see it?

Not yet. I had very much the same thoughts about Lilo and Stitch though.

I only watch old cartoons.

Except the Simpsons and South Park.

And 2DTV

And Futurama

And...

I'll see it when it hits video.

The theater on base sucks, and the local theaters insist on having a 15 minute "intermission" (smoke break) on all movies. Even 90 minute ones.

Yes, I liked it too. An interesting twist.

Just the Johnny Rzeznik video.

I think the movie would have done better if they didn't admit it was Treasure Island in space. They could have done Treasure Island or a space movie, but they thought they could combine the two and it has a disingenuous feel to it.

Get your kid a book.

If it's stamped with "Disney" it's not for me, great writers or no.

Moneyed bastards!

My kids are growing up and not wanting to see any of the "kid" movies any more. This is one I haven't seen for that reason.

Now if I could just get one of them to go with me to see The Wild Thornberry's!

I have the book. I've been trying to get my kid interested in it for a year. After the movie he picked it up. Right?
LOL Right.
