Thank you for your kind words ... but it doesn't look like the person who started the thread will be back anytime soon... so it seems like 'free speech' has silenced yet another voice.

Oh, he'll probably check back in. I'll call him; Hey Carlos, there's someone here who would like to talk to you. I think the fray is over (and it was never about what you said anyway). Do come back and see if PhoebeGB can help answer some of your questions.

There, let's see if he heard us. (But if I might be so bold, perhaps a PM from you would make him feel more comfortable?)

Now I'm confused.

because

a) unless you are privvy to information not included in the alleged nasty person's posts in this thread I can't see any other motive behind them

and

b) when did it become my job to calm and reassure people after such behaviour? Why should I have to resort to PM's to discuss Transgender subjects, and what does that say about the open forum? (Okay, maybe you didn't mean it that way, but the end result is the same)

Wow, you guys are amazing..the only socially conscious forum I have ever seen..that still gets sexytime!, its amazing to see people who put aside their immediate reaction to understand ignorance does not always intend to cause harm.

As a tgirl..(i like to call myself a lady boy, being pacific islander myself and admiring the beauty of LBs since i can remember) ...

look i dont speak for anyone but myself,...People just dont know how to conduct themselves against such extreme minorities..i just appreciate those that do. We are all so different and complex, believe it or not im most attracted to females..and occassionally very pretty tgs...but sometimes i get a psychotic binge of fantasizing about millions and millions of cocks! not often, but it happens...i wish more often, i never have a true interest in the men i have been with and sometimes i mislead..think about that a tranny hurting a sweet guys, the rare ones who are hot and love despite the society they lve in...im not proud at all..but the point is we are all so different

alaskabibear, thanks for taking the time to respond to me. I haven't been ignoring anyone, I just didn't want to get involved in the argument. I have taken on board what you said. Etoile, thanks for welcoming me to the forum. Well, thank you both. I spoke to Phoebe in a PM.

It's not something I can really say much more about. I said all I really had to in my first post.

I plan to hang around here anyway, it seems like a decent place.

Xx,
I would just like to welcome you and tell you that an article in the local Anchorage paper a couple of years ago about a transgendered person of Polynesian heritage is what opened my eyes to this issue. It was a quite lengthy interview/article in which this person explained how trans people used to be honored in that culture. However, as the traditional culture has been transformed by western thought, even people in that culture have begun to become less accepting.

I guess what I wish every one would just consider is this; Is our western culture the ONLY way for people to live? Is our culture really shaped and formed by Christianity, or is it not in fact more strongly shaped by a very sexually repressed Victorian influence? If you look at Christianity through the ages, the different cultures actually shaped and modified Christianity as much as Christianity modified the culture. From my own look into Christian history and past cultures I find that in those times societies were much more isolated and as a result they came up with their own ways of living that better allowed for the diversity of God's created beings. I guess what I'm trying to convey is something like this; if we were all born into an ancient Polynesian culture - we would have a totally different set of prejudices, but we would NOT have an aversion to transgendered people.

I'm certainly glad you are wise enough to avoid these silly "arguments". I'm also pleased that you will "hang around" because I've read some of your posts and think you will be a asset to our discussions.

Usually I realize that the main problem with this form of discussion is not so much the people, but simply the fact that this format makes it very hard to adequately communicate our point. In the time I've been here there are only a few times I felt the need to say "wait a minute, that's not right". And in truth, I even now suspect that I may not fully understand what "korizon" was trying to say. Again, a weakness in the format, not necessarily the people involved. Sorry for the disrupt to your very relevant original questions - perhaps others with understanding of trans issues will jump in and turn the conversation back to something useful.
