Damn, I wish this movie would play near where I am. I bet it's playing up at school right now while I'm on winter break at home, and as soon as I get back, it'll leave and start playing at home. *frustrated* I've read so many amazing things about it and I was drawn in by the trailer. Arg.

Has anyone been lucky enough to see it?

Could be worse, you could live down here in GW country where it will never show.

True, true. There's another movie that I want to see that may never see the light of day. I forget the name of it, but it's made like a mockumentary about what America would be like if the South had won the Civil War. Highly controversial, but also extremely funny, from what I've read.

So you have a teenage son from an old marriage and you're going on a roadtrip? Sweet!

We were young and in love. Everyone said we wouldn't last, but we had to learn for ourselves. I left early so the kid wouldn't be living a lie. Then I found a fountain of youth and transmogrified back to my teenage self. Now I'm driving up to Canada on a drug run for cheap hormones.

Anyway, the premise sounds neat, but it would be too awkward to go see it at this point. My parents keep wanting to have "the talk" with me and I don't want to give them any wrong ideas.

Yea that one would never show down here. As it is, I am only here for the beach. It is getting a bit better, however, the conservatives are still in control. Gay weekend at the beach majorly freaks them out. It is the most fun all year.

I guess the major reason that I want to see the movie is because over the last year or so, some people in my life have decided to make the change (or played around with the idea, at least, which isn't really something to play with) and I'm hoping to slowly learn as much as I can about it. I was lucky enough to be able to do the light board for Kate Bornstein when zhe came to UMass for a show, which was fascinating. Thankfully my friend (the one who is actually doing it, not the one who thought about it) is able to get the hormones here, unlike Alabama (where he used to live).

I've seen some really good progams on the subject on HBO or Showtime, not sure which. I've not heard about this movie though. We have 2 theaters in Flag and Even though one is artsy I doubt that it would play in this town. *sigh*

Try Brokeback Mountain. It's better.
Already seen it. It was great, but the two movies are different and I think this one doesn't get as depressing as Brokeback, which is always nice. I've seen way too many depressing movies lately. :(

I know what you mean. I just saw Underworld Evolutions, and all I could think about was how much I wish I could look like the lead girl. Very depressing indeed.
