I think I’ve been fortunate in my choice of friends since high school, and I can honestly say I’ve only befriended genuinely kind people but the qualifications for my inner circle are quite a challenge to meet. Sad to say that you are right. Even though their laws are not trans friendly at all, in the Philippines people are amazingly accepting. I can walk down the street or be in a crowded mall holding hands with my girl with not a frown or angry look in sight. Exactly the idea, Philippines and Thailand are very accepting of trans women. The places I live and belong to aren't all that friendly though we're being accepted more often, but not enough. The amount of killings or threats to us even in the latest EU elections show our real status, for example.

You're fully on point. We can say all we want about accepting people as they are, but the nail that sticks out will be hammered down. It's better to dress up to blend in and avoid potential harassment. It's happened to me in any way I was dressed too. I agree I was dressed slutty in some cases like you see in my pictures, in which case I blame myself because I know perfectly well I was dressed for attention. That's the idea of SlutWalks too.

I agree that we should tell boys that rape is wrong. But I know enough women, cis or trans, who love to dress provocatively and call it comfortable. For what? Attracting attention? They know people will look, even other women, and they giggle about the legal power games they play.
