my girlfriend has said she may be interested in using a dildo or vibrator...or atleast letting me use it on her.
she has never used one before and has told me that she would try it , but did not promise me she would like it...i can understand that, but my question is what do i get her.

i have to purchase one for her, probably as a Christmas present.
so what is good...i do not want to make a mistake the first time and turn her off the idea forever.

if you know of any good web sites i can look at or have any suggestions in a particular type or model please let me know.
thank you in advance for your replies...

Well as a woman myself I would suggest that you start small, don't scare her with the latest super dooper ex large model that does everything except light the after sex cigarettes. Your girlfriend might very well be nervous or embarrassed the first time, before inserting the vibrator have lots of foreplay...try using the vibrator on other parts of her body first like her breasts, tummy, back, bum etc It is relaxing as well as pleasurable. Also because you cannot feel how far in her it will be don't under any circumstances just start 'ramming' it in, that can really hurt and put her off for life! A lot of women (myself included) prefer the vibrator gently rubbing on their clitoris instead of inserting it.
There are lots of web sites with sex toys, have a look but please start simple.

thank you for the advice...do you have any particular web sites in mind that have interested you the most

I understand where she is comming from and since I just sort of started using the one my boyfriend got me on myself, get something that vibrates, something that is quiet.
I find it sort of better to have some thing that doesn't look like a penis, but she might want just the opposite, you might try asking her.
The coutour shape ones, (they don't look at all like penises you'll know when you come across them) are really good.

adameve.com is good

take four factors and decide from there

dildo vs vibrator- buy the dildo you have a dildo, vibrator you have both in one just leave it off if she doesn't like it on.

length & width- like they said start a little on the small side, comfort both mentally and physically are very important so don't buy to long or to thick

Appearance and shape- penis-like, multiple balls chained together solid rod, doudle pen, clit tickler, lots of options

material- that is the one thing the others hadn't mentioned yet, plastic of jelly or metal or leather- lots of options there too. Jelly or some form of malieable material is probably best for a first-timer.

If I was you I would suggest something medium sized in jelly(soft rubber) and depending on the type of person she is one that has a cute clit tickler like a dolphin or something like that. Realistic maybe more comfortable to start with unless she is real reserved then the standed missle shape works best. It's "traditional". Don't get extravagent on this one at first. Believe on this part because if she likes the first one you'll probably buy her more later on in different types anyways.

Final option but a bit expensive, or at least last time I checked it was. You can buy a mold kit to make one just like your penis.
