Calgary, on the other hand, IS an American city - Right-wing, Oil company-owned, and takes great pains, while counting its gazillions in Oil revenue, to wail how nasty Toronto ( and anyone East of Medicine Hat, for that matter) has been to SOUTHERN Alberta.

Hey! I think its anyone east of Manitoba and how terrible its been to the West.

And yes, Calgary (Little Texas) is very Americanized.

What can I say about Toronto.

Its not very clean anymore
too many homless people
too much violent crime
too many shootings
more potholes than flat pavement on the streets
city council is a joke
the west hate us ( I didnt vote liberal, dont hate me)
you cant swim at the beaches
lots of smog in the summer
etc. etc.

Calgary isn't very Americanized. It just has its head stuck in its ass revelling in the money. Edmonton has it's finger up it's nose not sure what to do with it's bounty. Cat bylaw? Ok!

Hello Canada..Does nobody empty their PM box on that side of the pond? ;) :D

i kind of like Toronto. Far better than Hamilton, otherwise known as the Armpit of Ontario.
Sure, it's smoggy and there are homeless guys sleeping on the sidewalk, but we've got a Starbucks or a Starbucks clone on every corner and the ugliest city hall in Canada!

.... wait a second.

Why do i like Toronto again?

Funny. I wasn't born here and have only been living here for a few years, but I think that's quite far from the truth. Well, there a little bit of truth to it, of course. But it ain't nearly as bad as everybody is trying to make it. Not at all

GNY you discribed almost every major city in North America. Those items you listed are typical to city life.

Now I haven't been any farther west than Detroit, so I can't say much about the west. I have however been to most major cities on the easter side of the states and a few in Canada ( I am Canadian!). Some cities hid their poverty well, while others seem to promote it, not sure why, it didnt seem to make my judgement on the particular place any better.

I have to say a bit about Quebec, I have been there a few times, I have a few family still living there. I went back this past May with 92, 13 and 14 yr olds. WOW is all I can say. Seeing Quebec city and the Beaupre coast threw there eyes was something I will always treasure. Once you have been to a place a few times you forget to look and take pride in the little things. There is so much to see and so much to learn when you see it threw the eyes of a child on their first trip. ( It made grade 7-10 history class much easier to understand when you actually SEE what they are talking about)

Salute! Canada!
SC

Edited to correct punctuation! No I dont have a 92 yr old! lol I feel 92 today though!
