Question! *raises hand*

Because I've never seen the show I am wondering what you are looking for in way of character...if you give me some clues, I can build someone from the ground up. Just give me a direction for my little sprout to grow!

What am I looking for in characters?

I’m looking for characters that can be part of the Torchwood group. You can choose to be a character outside the group but I’m guessing that most will choose to be in. Try to keep your characters real worldish. No magic powers or ESP, but you can have alien technology that will do it. If you do have the technology then you will need a good reason why you have it.

Because it is real worldish you can’t get away with running around with swords or bows, use a gun. Keep in mind that Torchwood outranks most other government agencies, this includes the police. The police are aware of Torchwood because Torchwood steps in and takes over some cases. The police just don’t know what they are really for.

With the Torchwood group, as I said earlier, I’m looking for characters that can be a second in command, doctors, computer specialists, general support, scientists, psychologists, weapon specialists, or anything that you think would be helpful. With limited people you can take more than one job. General support is assisting the other jobs or picking up the slack.

I would rather people not double up on jobs, exp. Two scientists. If this happens then they will need to be more specialized, exp. Botanist and Physicist. With the majority of the jobs it will be easy to bullshit your way through. Information on things like technology and stuff, I can give or you can Wiki what was used in the Torchwood series.

Once again these are just suggestions, if you feel I have missed out on a much needed role, feel free to bring it up. If you are unsure of what role you wish to take, then write up a Bio and I’ll make some suggestions. Since only Angelus, so far, has seen the show, anything you really need to know I will tell you. Because of the new start you don’t need to know about the alien stuff. You will only need to be specialized or proficient at modern human stuff.

How to get in?

You can choose to do as Angelus did and be recently recruited but there has to be a reason for your recruitment. Being a police officer is a good way to get in. Having your character as an expert in your line of work is another good way. Angelus, I will accept your reason because of the ever handy and exploitable memory loss. Though you will need to add skills or role or you will be a general support kind of guy. Because you have seen some of the show I will want a little more from you.

Your character can be oblivious to the existence of Torchwood and as the plot progresses you stumble on to them. This stumble could be you sleuthing them out or your character being approached by a member of Torchwood.

Your character could also be from the institute and helping to set up the new group. In this case you will need to know something about the series. Having seen Doctor Who would help as well. Once again these are suggestions.

I don’t need a whole lot in the character descriptions and prefer most of the character description to come out in the story. Angelus your character description is perfect. It’s short and to the point.

Age: Early twenties.
Description: Average height, slim build. He has brown hair and copper-tone eyes.
Background: His past is shrouded in mystery and as much as I'd like to apply a seclusive cool guy persona, It is difficult to ignore people when they are already ignoring you. He's just the "fix-it" guy. No one really cares.
Skills: Mechanic and back-up technician.
(Landed job by being an expert mechanic. When things need fixing, he's the guy to call on. Has skill in welding, so not only can he screw loose bolts into sheet metal, he can repair the sheet metal itself.)

Description: 5’7”, shapely not skinny but not fat medium... Green eyes and long brown hair. Has a few freckles and has a light tan.

Background: Grew up with a single parent and moved on to college wanting to avoid having a mistake like herself. She trained to work as a crime scene investigator... she doesn't miss much in the way of details and is a talented photographer.

Skills or Role: Scientist and possibly a second in command... if I need to know a lot about the show for that just cross me off...

Description:about around 6 feet tall, 220 pounds, black haired and muscular.
Background:Born in Belfast, and formerly a Sergeant Major in Her Majesty's SAS, was moved up by MI6 due to an encounter in the field. Jovial, loyal, fierce, and dedicated to queen and country.
Skills or Role:Armed and Unarmed combat (was in the SAS after all) his position is weapons specialst and chief of security (or whichever one you like best love.)

Was your character still a cop after the memory loss or only before? Do you mind if I take liberties in the cause of your memory loss? If you have something planned I’ll leave it alone. You said that your skills or role is clean up duty. Is that like a janitor, hitman, or handyman?

Good bio and you are ambitious. I’m impressed so if you want the job as second in command then it can be arranged. Where does your character enter in? From head office, already recruited, or potential?

Your bio is good as well. Weapons specialist is the one I would like. Because of your military background your character could have been assigned to Torchwood.

Assigned it is. If she worked for any government agency, such as CSI, then it is more likely that she was assigned.

That's alright. It is actually a good question. I'm not really sure what I want. I've only just included the psych thing because I figured it would be included before anyone was brought in. That and I'm going to have to use it when I meet your characters. For the psych evaluation I suppose will need Personality, which has already been included, how open the character would be with the alien stuff, ability to keep your work secret from close friends and family, cope with isolation, and ability to work in a group.

So far what has been included is enough, but I will be forming the evaluations based on the bios. Because of that I will probably make mistakes but that's part of the fun.

But these are just ideas for the bios. I don't really want to go so far as to write up a questionnaire. I suppose the best way to go is if you feel like sharing include it in the bio. If I have any specific questions about your character I will ask.

I was going to have it that he was a police officer before it happened to him and when he came back he ws totally the opposite.

I was thinking that if possible he would be a hitman, someone that takes out those who know about Torchwood but he is also its public face, the one that covers up everything that happens with the press.

I really like that your character has turned into a hitman. But Torchwood doesn't have to dispose of anyone that knows too much about them. They have drugs that erase memories *nudge nudge* . Your character would be hired for your ability to cover up anything we don't want in the press. Because your character was once a police officer you would also be useful as Police liaison. That may or may not keep you busy so because you are also useful with a gun, you would be general support out in the field. Want the job?

well dorian is open to aliens, being as he had an encounter while on a mission, but of course no one else in the service believed him. Thats why MI6, who i figured would know about torchwood, used their Military Intelligence muscle to reassign him to torchwood. He has no wife or children, hes deep SAS, he figures that if the service wanted him to have a family they would have issued him one.

now does weapon specialist entail fieldwork as kind of like muscle for the agency? or does he mostly stay back at HQ and work with the weapons they bring back?

Description: Sandy is average in every way. Average height, average build, brown hair, brown eyes. She blends in where ever she goes, or alters her appearance to be more flamboyant.

Background: Sandy is a former American married a Brit she met on the job. She worked for the Justice Dept. Witness Relocation Program. Paul worked for the Ambassador and they met at a function. She relocated when Paul got transfered back to London. Three years into the marriage Paul, or so she was told, fell over dead from a brain hemorrhage. Although she saw the body and it had no visible signs of trauma, she has her doubts, because it was handled very quickly by the Diplomatic Corps.

Skills or Role: Sandy works on extractions and relocations. She can fake a death, and set up a new ID and home for people easily, which uses a variety of skills which can be used for other purposes as well. Being for DOJ she has ties to that agency and of course has Field operative training.

Of course I'll take the job. Being the police liaison will be interesting as well the general support role.

I was thinking I could be already recruited. Joined earlier than most as an isolated military base would need an experienced mechanic to keep the technology in check. If this doesn't work I will happily join later.

Description: 6’ black hair blue eyes short hair
History: A former army medic/biological weapons expert who did not reenlist instead traveling to Africa to deal with new disease on what he calls the front line. Was recruited for his cool under fire and familiarity with a wide arrange of diseases strange found in nature and man made. His skills have been put to the test many times once finding a treatment to place zombies back into a state of near death.

Ok, so, to answer your question....

Sandy can use a comp like everyone else, but has some specialized skills for what she does. Primarily research and document incertation. Did you know, for example, that birth documents and death documents are not cross filed ON PURPOSE? Yep, the government likes it that way for their own purposes.
