Top-opolis

Nah, we never got it. We got lipservice and posing and pretending, but the idea of guys treating us as more or less human beings like them is still elusive.

It's just another way to get laid. Or not.

*smirk*

And it serves you right, all of you.

Actually, Netz--I think you are dead wrong. I think the young men have absorbed "feminization" to the degree to which they are capable; without bad faith. The problem is that boys are not nor never will be girls.

At root I don't see that much difference between "Bring me my slippers!" and "Bring me a blankie and a Xanaax for my Inner Child."

It's not the entitlement or even the high-maintenance factor that's unattractive; it's the whiny, needy, navel-gazing, inner childhood.

I'm all for metrosexuals, though, particularly if they're ambigous, misogynistic, anal sex aficionados.

last scene of My Fair Lady.

There's definitely a "demand for nurturance" in dominance. None of us outgrow that.

No.

You are right and I am right.

They are still masculine about their femininity.

Very much so.

Sissy is not girl, I agree.

Er, this would make ME right and..oh who cares about you!

Maybe it's because I'm bisexual, but I can tell you the emo types come in both genders. Whiny, oversensitive, clingy, needy, dependent pains in the ass, all of them. Gods save us.

Thing is, many male subs think they're supposed to be wimps. Au contraire, guys! You can submit and still be strong - ask many fem subs.

Right, pagan switch; can't stand emo chicks either.

The banker is emblematic of an alarming moment in gender relations here in New York: the rampant spread of the emo man (or perhaps more appropriately, emo boy). Originally referring to a floppy-limbed, "sincere" indie-rock movement, emo gathered speed during the Clinton feel-your-pain era. Now it has landed squarely in the laps of disgusted Manhattan women like Ms. Hackemann.

backlash anyone?

These bitches hoping for a return to the 50's are going to be sorely sorry when they get their wish.

pick your poison, yeah, needy people are annoying. And it seems like they proliferate. Maybe the cult of NEED in sexuality is just part of a big picture. Needy clingy women are a fact of dating, needy clingy men make news. That's funny.

Could be the liberals fault. Could also be the conservatives...finally the individual liberated into complaint will overdo it.

that attachment gave me a warm fuzzy. I wanna steal it for my av.

You're welcome to it, although I would imagine you're more of a hawk type, or perhaps one of the clever and fearless bluejays who knock on my door to demand more seed.

"I would say that historically, and right up through the present, one of the things that defined femininity—especially in the white, middle-class culture—is women listening to men and being their audience, their support system, and really asking for relatively little of that in return," she said. "There’s been a really disproportionate share of attention of all kinds that men demand and assume as their due."

same song, diff tune.

Also, notice this is a white middle-class (and younger) phenom. I don't know these guys, and bet if I was back dating ex-cons, hippie construction workers, Morroccan butchers, unemployed bikers from the Canary Islands, etc I STILL wouldn't be meeting these guys.

Just sounds like the world is going to the Subbies, to me. (Have you noticed it's both the male and female subbies who outnumber the dom/mes? Is this a sign of selfish, helpless overwhelm -- the modern wish to be taken care of, in a world that seems increasingly out of control?)

Crow. (smirk)

Don't think I've "demanded more seed" in the Topopolis sense since I was 19 or 20. LOL

Are those crows or ravens that go around muttering in our town? BIG birds. Tall as smallish dogs, cocky as hell, primordial hunch-shouldered walk, they eat roadkill and yell at passers-by. Damn those are some disturbing birds.

Couldn't tell what they were muttering and raving -- could have been 'nevermore' I suppose.

unless you live in Europe they are crows.

And yes, they have balls, and don't think twice about gobbling up the vilest of refuse, and will always pause to yell and opinionate.

I've always been fond of them.

But how many of them are really submissive and how many of them are just passive aggressive whiners?

and do true submissive persons need to be "taken care of" or even want that?

I think everyone wants to be cared for in some way. No matter how independent minded there will always be times in every person's life when it would be great to just lay your head and be comforted.

Some people need more care-taking than others, but I don't see that as a particularly Top or bottom issue. I mean, a personal slave can offer an awful lot of caretaking. Does that make the slave's master less of a Top? No more than providing for ones dependants makes one a bottom.
