Top 10 Beaches

I'm a CT native and grew up on the sound. This beach is my haven and it is the first place that lucky and I spent any time together. The picture below was the view from my bedroom. This beach will, forever, be the best beach in the world to us.

I can't argue with dreams from your childhood. However, not everyone might share the dream.

I grew up [or whatever I did] in South Central Los Angeles. I miss the place; every chance I get!

What about most of the coast of Oregon? The judges had a 'heat' bias. And I'll never tell about the ones in BC!

I have been to the Salishan Hills and the beaches were quite nice. However, with the weather, they are never going to be as popular as the CA and HI beaches.

JMHO.

Dubbing something like a beach 'the best' is highly subjective. My criteria for what makes a beach the best, likely does not coincide with yours. Therefore, I have no trouble claiming the small private beach shown in the photograph as The Best. Regardless of how beautiful or relaxing any of the other beaches mentioned may be, they can't even come close to offering what our beach offers. Hence, it is The Best.

I visited Huntington Beach several years ago and it was pretty nice, but I don't have a real burning desire to return there.

As I said before, I can't and won't attempt to argue with dreams from your past. The beach for which you posted the picture may be your best beach, however not everyone would agree.

HB is not considered one of the best beaches in CA. It is OK, but there are a lot of better beaches by any standard. I say, by any standard, because surfers have one standard for judging beaches, swimmers another, divers another, sunbathers another and so forth. For instance, some people consider the Silver Strand (San Diego) to be the best beach in the area [Mainly because of the Midnight Lady,] but not too many, even in San Diego would agree.

Coast Guard Beach? Whatever the hell for?

Lots of rocks in the sand. Shallow grade so it isn't good for either diving or surfing. A long ways out so the girls aren't there. Heavily patrolled so you can't skin down. Blah, a shit beach if you ask me.

I used to live in CT and went to Compo beach in Westport and Sherwood island i can't remember where. They were nice but the sand was a little too rocky for me. I lived in Boston as well and went to Revere Beach it was ok nothing special.

I used to live in North Truro. I did try to dive off Coast Guard Beach but it was like an underwater desert out there. Of course, you don;t want to try to take lobster anywhere off Cape Cod as the local fishermen insist that the only lobster taken there all came out of a lobster trap.

We used to go up to P-Town and pick up chicks! We used to take them back, at night to Coast Guard Beach [we called it Mayflower Beach, because so many girls came across!] We had our own private nude beach early in the morning [what they call the wee bitching hours.] The A-House was a prime source of hot looking tourist ladies and there was a little place that featured steel drum bands from the islands. If you couldn't score in P-Town during the summer, you were doing something wrong.

Perhaps you had the same problem with the P-Town police I had. If I were attacked [unprovoked here] I would just deal with the problem and leave the refuse dumped in the gitter. The P-Town police did not like that at all.

I used to dive all over the Cape but some of the best diving was Either Sandwich Beach or the small beaches by the jetties at the ends of the Canal. Lots of Bugs around the Canal and just offshore from Sandwich Beach.

You do get some problems from the Lobstermen, especially if they think you're raiding their traps. Sometimes if they see a bunch of divers hitting the same area they come in and drop their traps there. (It gets real exciting if they start doing that and your underneath.)

I only had problems with them twice. Both times could have been nasty but things were worked out. (Both times they were worked out by the appearance of the Game Wardens in their boat.)

Ahhhhh Truro and P-Town. My wife and I used to camp in a small place in Truro every summer. Made many trips to P-Town from there. We never had problems with the Police up there, unless you count them trying to pick up either myself or my wife as a problem.

By the time I found out where the bugs were, I was definitely off lobster diving. At that time some of the lobstermen were carrying guns in their boats and a generally nasty disposition. There were several incidents involving divers and lobstermen. I like lobsters, however, I like my life even more.

I suspect that most of the problems I encountered in P-Town were due to the fact that Big Red, kerrigan and I would go up to P-Town to pick up pussy. Nobody ever messed with Big Red. Very few guys ever messed with Kerrigan who looked the Irish tough guy. That left me. I could take Big Red and Kerrigan in the same fight. When I defended myself against some drunk tourist, the Chamber of Commerce would apparently get on the scumbags. However, the moonlit trips to Coast Guard Beach were worth it!

Awesome scenery! No lifeguard towers?

Thank you :rose: Blauwberg has two, and there is a surfers beach right next to Blauwberg which is inundated with guards (I used to be a surfer chick in my teenager years  )

The other beaches are good for swimming in season, which is mostly October - March. The pictures were probably not taken in season.

Just published list of the top 10 veaches in the US.
1) Fleming Beach, Maui
2) Caladesi Island State Park, Dunedin, Fla.
3) Ocracoke Island in North Carolina
4) Coopers Beach in Southampton, N.Y.
5) Hanalei Beach, Kauai
6) Main Beach, New York
7) Coast Guard Beach, Cape Cod, Mass.
8) Coronado Beach, California
9) Hamoa Beach, Maui
10) Barefoot Beach Park, Bonita Springs, Fla.

How they left out Waimea Bay, Oahu and Mavericks, CA beats the hell out of me. Comment?

Well, that's just great I've been to ONE of those places. *prints out list* Time for some planning or at least dreaming.

Fury :rose:

East Coast beaches won't work for me....at least, not the ones I've experienced.

Although I don't surf, I want decent size waves in case I decide to bodysurf or pull the boogieboard out...and all the east coast beaches I've experienced have very little break and are way too shallow for decent surf...

now. for certain other things about the shoreline...well, I'm open. and as for V & L's beach? anyplace that played a part in you two becoming the women I so adore is a great place in my book...
