Just published list of the top 10 veaches in the US.
1) Fleming Beach, Maui
2) Caladesi Island State Park, Dunedin, Fla.
3) Ocracoke Island in North Carolina
4) Coopers Beach in Southampton, N.Y.
5) Hanalei Beach, Kauai
6) Main Beach, New York
7) Coast Guard Beach, Cape Cod, Mass.
8) Coronado Beach, California
9) Hamoa Beach, Maui
10) Barefoot Beach Park, Bonita Springs, Fla.

How they left out Waimea Bay, Oahu and Mavericks, CA beats the hell out of me. Comment?

Or the Red, Columbo, and Kamari beaches on Santorini.

Oh, this is a US list. Never mind.

Myself, ABS, cloudy. . .

OH!

Beaches, not bitches.

My mistake.

:cathappy:

I live in Florida. I was born here. I NEVER go to the beach. It's SUNNY there, and HOT, and FULL of TOURISTS.

And there's no A/C, but there are chiggers.

I love beaches on Lake Michigan, upper side.

Beautifully clean sand and water, even though the water doesn't truly warm up until AUGUST (if at all). :D

I used to live at the beach. I went at night! Not sunny, not hot, not full of tourists. Almost all of the tourists who wander the beach at night are looking for, well you figure it out!

Whichever one is closest to Nanaimo, BC is the one I want to be on right NOW.

The best beach in the world is in Noank, Connecticut.

I don't know why you make the claim.

I used to live near "The Cove" in La Jolla. The Cove is a beautiful beach, with the La Jolla trench not too far off shore if you like to scuba dive. Boomer beach is just a few yards around the corner and is a good, if expert level, body surfing beach [You need to avoid "The Cornerstone of Democracy" and "Barnacle Bill."]. Also, you can sunbathe or night visit The Cove in January. Can you do that in CT [I used to live in Stamford, CT]?

i'm very partial to Laguna beach, CA, though not for expanses of white sand, which I think are at beaches further south, as RR says.

Laguna Beach was started as an artist colony. They still have an art festival that lasts for several weeks in the summer. I don't know too much about Laguna Beach as a beach, however.

I like the Cove better than Coronado. Coronado is pretty, but unfortunately it's on the very dull, touristy "island" of Coronado.

Pacific Beach is better for checking out hot college girls though...

I'm a CT native and grew up on the sound. This beach is my haven and it is the first place that lucky and I spent any time together. The picture below was the view from my bedroom. This beach will, forever, be the best beach in the world to us.

I just got back from vacation to the outer banks of North Carolina a little while ago and though Ocracoke Island is really beautiful, my favorite beach was probably the one at the former lighthouse location at Cape Hatteras. :)
