Too "Techy"

I'm using the "Imagize - fixed" skin. Closest to the old version, or so Manu said.

The threads appear in a similar way, but it's still too "techy".

I don't like the buddy list not being in the user cp. Pain in the arse it being in its own little window.

Yep, I agree that the smilies are a pain. Too techy? OK, I'll go with that. What's wrong with 'ol yeller? All of the strange colors are, well...strange.

As for the PM problem? I don't carry on that many conversations via PM, but I have seen what y'all are talking about. I had to get a new default browser, because mine wasn't compatible with the posting screen. All I would see was a blanck window. Scarry.

But, Manu is working on it, or so I hear. Give the guy some time and what he can change he will. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

I think it was Jenny someone, over on the Story Ideas forum. I never did do that chain in the end. Something for Halloween, if I recall? We were gonna write about Lit personas, all meeting up in a haunted house.

I have it on large font, because it's easiest to read, but the letters are huge and they do not adjust. It's like it's for the totally blind. And when I said it made my eyes hurt it wasn't only because of the too small letters, there's just to much *stuff* -- it's distracting. I have ADD for crying out loud, I'd rather read a book than a magazine I like having things simple. I don't want to come here to play with skins (although that was fun for a while) I want to come to visit. I want the focus to be *us* and everything else in the background like it was before. Yes, I think that sums it up rather nicely. Before it seemed to be more about *us* the people on the boad, and now it's the board itself. Like- did you come to see me, or just to see my great house and fancy gadgets? --Well, I came to see you, but now that you mention it, what does this do? lol

Hopefully, in time, our eyes (and the rest of us) will adjust, and the "stuff" will just fade into the background again.

Come to think of it, I miss the simplicity of the Speccy and Amiga.

Yep, I had that when I logged in tonight. It was wearing a different skin than the one I'd left it in when I logged out last night. Freaky shit.

I don't understand why the skin changing switch must be anywhere but at the place it already is, inside the Control Panel --- just how often do people change skins???

Even if it MUST be out there, why must it be in precisely the same spot as where the Forum Goto Switch used to be.

Yep, much like another issue with PM's. The "Delete this message" button is in the same place as the "Reply to" button used to be. Lew was getting quite cross last night. (I know, I shouldn't grin. )

And, quite! How often do people change skins? I find it most uncomfortable.

I've been changing mine a lot- trying to find one that suits me. None of them are ever just right and I'll notice something new that bugs me and try to change it back.

What's cool is that you can change your skin even when you're not logged in. And you can change it around but I *think* it stays 'saved' as you've saved it on your control panel, so that if you change it on the bottom of the page, when you log on again it will put you back to the one you saved. (not 100% sure, but I think that's how it works.)

I don't like the subset thing when you quote somebody, is there a skin that doesn't do this?
