There is a soon to be released movie called "United 93" that is drawing a lot of attention. It is the story of the flight in which the passengers fought back, and the plane wound up crashing in Pennsylvania.

When a trailer for the movie was shown in theatres in New York and California, members of the audience began shouting "Too Soon". The trailer was pulled from a theatre in New York due to outcry. The 5 year anniversary is coming up. Is almost 5 years "too soon"? This day was an integral piece of American history. It changed all of our lives. Movies about Pearl Harbor were released within a year, yet now, 5 years is too soon?

I don't think it's too soon. It's a piece of history that must not be allowed to die, or fade into the background. It is history, it deserves to be told.

I find it a bit ironic that movies like Farenheit 9-11 didn't receive this same treatment. Was Moore not playing on the same 9-11?

It did, in some quarters. Called "cheap and tasteless political capitalzing on misery and disaster" and stuff like that. Of course, those protesting was the people he attacked in the film.

Too soon? Nopes. As long as it's done well and with a degree of respect.

Agreed, but the argument was never made that it was too soon to be making movies about 9-11. The arguments about Moores film was that it was inflamatory, etc. Never that it was too soon.

If they don't try to "Hollywoodize" it by turning the characters into something other than the extraordinarily brave ordinary people they were or spice it up with snide digs at the president or other polititians not on Barbara Streisand's "A" list of party guests, I think it is actually overdue.

I think a tastefully done, non-political movie or mini-series about all of the events of that day should be done also.
