I had my first two stories posted over the last couple of days. I am writing about my exploits immediately after my divorce.
One of the comments that was written was that I should "focus less on the sex, unless it's really erotic", and "focus more on the bigger picture","worst of times, good things to come", etc.

This is a series of stories, so obviously, there will be more "good things to come." Why would I want to focus less on the erotic ? This IS an erotic story site !

As a rookie writer, I'll ask ... am I wrong, or does this person have a point ? It almost sounds to me like this is a man that was wronged, and he just wants a story that is venting, and how I got back at my ex.

This wouldn't be in the Loving Wives category, would it? :D

Some readers like more stroke, and some like more story. Write what you want because you will never be able to please everyone.

No need to qualify what comes next. If you are satisfied and happier with getting your thoughts out, does it matter what anyone in the world says? If you want to 'write - and write' more than that? Well, then ... you will grow in that direction eventually.

(I am only posting on the basis of your post - not on any story).

Some people like some story with their sex, obviously.

Welcome to the AH, btw. :D

To reiterate what others have said, write for yourself. If you feel good about a story you post, don't pay much attention to what others may say about it. Personally, I write mainly pure stroke, with effort at neither plot nor characterization. People criticize me for this but I ignore them because I am writing what I feel like writing. Occasionally, I try to write something more "literate" and if these same criticisms are made, I pay attention.

As for concentrating less on the sex, on the pure stroke stories, at least 90% of the words in a given story are depictions of sex, and I don't intend to change that.

My first two are in the Mature catagory.

(Pirate really hit home when I hit 40, and my now ex and I split)

I do put a bit of story in with the sex, but it was the "too much sex, unless it's really erotic" comment that I found kind of funny. That's kind of like watching an amateur porn movie, and complaining that there is no plot !

Thanks for the warm. We can keep the political arguments to a minimum here, I assume ? :D

Unless you disagree with me, of course. ;)

I'm just as much a true believer here as anywhere else. Maybe more so here, since this is my "home" on Lit. If you'd like a clue as to just how passionate I am about issues that effect me and mine, just look at this thread, and at this one.

C'mon, now, what fun would it be without getting you all riled up once and a while ???
While it may not come across in our previous encounter, I do have an appreciation and an understanding for your devotion to your cause, and I truly meant no insult.

Now now! How much sex is too much in porn? Erotic is less and porn is more? Or like you say and quote? Please define the difference before I comment further. :) Also, is a comment on your story such a bad thing if it is truthful to the one commenting?

My favorite.

Sorry about the threadjack, but I suppose good erotica deserves good sex.

Well, as I said, I didn't understand this person's comment that I should "focus less on the sex, unless it's really erotic." After all, this IS a sex/erotic story site. The difference between the two would be subjective, in my opinion. I DO try to make my stories less "raunchy", because I want to appeal to the women readers.
Any comment on my stories is welcome.
If I didn't want feed-back, I would turn off the option.

Yes, it's exactly like that. This is my biggest complaint about so-called erotic films. If it's just sex, it's no more arousing to me to watch two humans than it is to watch two zebras. The same applies to stories.
