Anyone notice that all 25 slots for today's Taboo/Incest page were all posted today?

That means that all those authors that posted yesterday, were pushed of the list after just 1 day. They spent their time to write the story, edit that story, have an editor check the story, then look it over at least one more time before the story is complete. They posted their story and it showed up yesterday. They watch the comments, scores, and reads coming in. The numbers and comments are what authors get to enjoy for their efforts However, today it stopped for 25 stories? No more? Nope, after just one day, it was pushed off the list.

Unless readers were on yesterday and were one of the 15,000 that read the story, they missed it. The story will go down as one of the authors least read stories.

Constructive suggestion: Change the limit from 25 stories to the greater of 25 or 3 days worth of stories.

I don't post much, I would rather work on a story. This site is run well enough and there are plenty of people that will complain. I don't want this post to be about bashing anyone. I am just pointing out an issue and offering a suggestion on how to improve things without having to rewrite the whole site.

'Today's Posts' are by definition supposed to have been posted today, not yesterday or the day before.

Now if you had complained about posts 26 and above, well, you may have had something .....

I kept track of all the posts to the site for several months and saw that happen a few times. I don't think it's something that Laurel wants to do. I think it's something she's forced into now and then to clear backlogs.

I/T, and possibly EC, may be the only categories where that happens. New stories in a lot of categories can sit on the hub until the readers are no longer paying attention. It's an episodic problem, and not a site-wide problem, so there isn't much reason to change.

It's a regular problem in incest. I've seen this. I think it would make sense to expand the number of stories that appear on the new story hub, because stories drop off too quickly in incest, often within one day. That is insufficient time for readers to identify a good new story that deserves attention.

Gosh, it's just so crowded on the penguin beach!

You write in the most popular category, you deal with the consequences. Next.
