Too long, or to short

Lately everything I write fails to be considered a short story. I am averaging 18,000 words. What does something of this size classify as??

That's about six pages. Way too long for me.

I'll consider three a long story. Unless it grips my attention at the very beginning, I usually pass.

I try to cut them short. And one of them has a second version that is 23,400 words. I promise they hold your attention from cover to cover, but what can I do with them?

Combine them into a book-length manuscript, publish them as individual novellas, offer them up for serial publication, line the marmot cage at the local zoo if you will, just don't subject we here at Literotica to an 18000 word attempt at erotic fiction. This is not the proper venue for the short story, as a genre. This is the proper venue for short, erotic fiction. We wish here to get into her/his panties, not her/his psyche.

That would probably be considered a "novella," although the word counts for short story, novella, and novel are neither precise nor consistent.
