Tony Bennett dead at 96

The best male pop singer after Sinatra, both rooted firmly in the world of jazz, both able to milk a slow ballad for everything it was worth. A sad day . . .

A true giant has crossed over the bridge. The sun is a little dimmer today.

Truth. Sinatra called him the world's best Saloon singer.

He also marched the Pettus Bridge with Harry Bellefonte and Dr King.

The time he recognized Gaga and the honest deep down smile and joy she showed...that's good stuff.

A real one went home. A REAL ONE.

Who the hell does this anymore? Who gives grace to those underneath them? Who gives patience? Who recognizes talent and tells others that we're staying and working things out?

We need more Bennetts in the world. Not just in front of the mic, but running the shops and calling the shots. And it isn't a surprise here why he was down to stand for civil rights. :rose:
