I am also getting Gone With the Wind, about 50 hours of that. My daughter and I are remotely reading together though a list of female badass protagonists. Some of them are more or less badass than others, but I do love Scarlett.

I'm not approving of her!

We've gone through a few I hadn't read before, Sula by Toni Morrison and then The Robber Bride by Margaret Atwood.

It's an interesting discussion about what makes a strong female character and what makes a good author.

It was wonderful. But I missed the wonderful footnotes more than I thought I would. They were my favourite bit, but tricky to film in a period drama.

yeah, i don't know how they'd have incorporated that without breaking the flow of the production. did you find yourself slipping that info in yourself as you watched? can't wait for next week's ep. oh, mr norrell's library!

it is to be hoped that they manage to incorporate the notes in any terry pratchett book they film; they did with a hitch hiker's guide - though film or tv series i'm not sure.
