Today in the United States is a very special day. A day with meaning to everyone all over the world. It is Veteran's Day. A day to remember the sacrifices those that served made for all of us.

As this is a board with people from all over the world, it is not a holiday for all, but in all of our countries we have people who have served, lost family members in service, or have had their lives impacted by war.

I thought it would be a good place to ask everyone here to do something today if you can. Reach out to a veteran, a family member of a veteran or someone who's life has been impacted by war or conflict. Let them know you care. It can do a world of good.

Thank you for your time....

It's remembrance day over her in the UK. No day off but we have a two minute silence at 11 am.

I always remember my Great Uncle Charles Smith - he died on the first day of the Battle of the Somme - his body was never recovered.

Thanks for bringing this up.

As a proud dad of a current Airman, even those families that haven't had to deal with the ultimate loss know the sacrifices our military members and their families have to make. It's rarely a glorious endeavor and certainly not lucrative. Thanks to all of those who served (or are currently serving).

Called Remembrance Day here in Canada day also. It's a national holiday.

Just want to add my thanks to those all who have served their country. You chose to serve, and I live a life of absolute freedom because you did so. thank you.

I have my poppy tattoo as a daily reminder of all those that risk (and all those that have given) their lives in the hope of a better future for all.

My youngest brother did two tours in Iraq, and one in Afghanistan. He's a lifer military man, and I was his sounding board during those tours. I've never cried so much, as I did during those phone calls, and after they ended.

I have more respect for him, than anyone else I know. Not because he went to war, but because he truly cared about the Iraqi children living in Sadr city. He still talks to a few of those kids, who are adults now.

Today is a big day for him, and he deserves some praise, so here's to you my brother :rose:
