I've been offered a job up there...if it wasn't so damn expensive to live there this would be a non decision. But god damn it...it is a pretty state.

I can, and would if single...but I have two kids to feed. I am in a state where milk is already $8/gallon. From what I am hearing, no difference in cost of living. I'd have to make 30K more than I am to make it worth while.

Single...what's a couple years of time? Easy to compensate the bad for the beauty. Family...well then like it or not, their opinions have an equal weight. We are still talking and they are looking for a way to bump up the salary through State grants. I have a potential to build an industry in a state that wants it...that has weight.

This morning on the way into town, I saw a license plate that said, "AK2STA". Alaska to Stay. I thought to myself, why would an Alaskan broadcast this? Boomers need to remind themselves, Alaskans don't.

Building something returns more than a paycheck. For me, that "more" makes the mundane parts of the job palatable.
