If only it was this nice out, today.

Today's weather: Rain. Highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Southeast wind 10 to 25 mph increasing to 20 to 35 mph in the afternoon. Gusts to 50 mph along the lower hillside and east anchorage this afternoon. Along Turnagain Arm and higher elevations...southeast wind increasing to 40 to 50 mph with gusts to 70 mph.

Of course, I live where the gust will prolly hit that 70 mph mark. Thankfully, the garbage man comes in the morning and not the afternoon.

I decided to write this in the hope that you’d see it. Purely out of amusement at first, I assure you. But after some significant thought on the matter I have decided that your actions may provide my fellow Alaskans a chance to learn a lesson for living well.

To ensure you remember exactly the circumstances surrounding your actions, and to indulge readers who did not witness them, I shall elaborate upon the scenario.

Around five in the afternoon of the 23rd of September on The University of Alaska Anchorage Campus, I decided to walk out of the ConocoPhillips Integrated Science Building and spoil myself by having a cigarette. Knowing how rude it is to blow smoke in the faces of others, I moved to the north side of the building, a hundred feet away from any entrance, and stood on the edge of the grass on the south side of the trail with the wind at my face, ensuring that the smoke I exhaled didn’t waft across the trail and disturb others.

Apparently this wasn’t enough for you.

The United Center!! It is on the West side of the City. Unfortunately, not the best public transpo there. You will have to grab a cab. Keep in mind that it will be tough finding one after the game.

Something to think about.
 
It's probably about 2-3 miles. If the weather cooperates, you can walk. It's a straight shot down Madison to the loop.
 
People on the Alaska tv shows call them, "Snow Machines"


Is that a regional thing or am I behind the times? Back in the day, we called them Ski-Doo's... I never actually had one, but lots of people do/did because we got an average of 180 inches of snow a year.

Times don't matter, you're not, and have never been, an Alaskan. If you're out in a village, people call them "machines" or "snow-go's". The young generation of city folk call them "sleds". Skidoo is a brand name from then, Bombardier, and now BRP. Musta been a lotta yellow in the hills of WV.
