It's no bueno on the fun scale.

My cabin is a dry cabin. But then, I can go home to the shower. A sauna/bathhouse is on the list of stuff to build out there, but that's after other more important stuff gets completed.

I did it for a year and a half. HATED. IT. And that wasn't even at -40. But hey, at least the clothes got clean while taking a shower at the laundromat. It was a hard lifestyle to sustain when my main source of income meant I had to have a very clean appearance.

For an off the grid weekend cabin, it's no big deal. Much easier than dealing with frozen plumbing.

Alaska State Troopers are conducting a search near Ambler for a Wisconsin survival expert last seen in late September after he planned to spend time alone at a cabin in the area.

We have minimal snow. You can skate a lot of places right now.

I can't imagine skating much more than a typical ice rink's length and not having to stop or turn. Even pond-hockey was/is crowded.

It's 4°F this morning and there's plenty of outdoor ice. For river or creek ice, it's smart to have a pair of ice claws so you can self rescue, if you stray onto thin ice.
