This is a thread for people to talk about new things that they've learned and how interested the world is and continues to be. For me, I just learned that Mark Wahlberg (as Marky Mark) had a singing career, or more specifically, a rap singing career and my mind is just a little bit blown.

Post things that you've learned!

That Norah Jones is the famous sitar player Ravi Shankar's daughter

After much fiddling... how to put an avatar on my profile.

That I've never seen Betty of the Archies quite in that context before.

Let's blow the mind some more....lol

I read things like this and feel like I should ease myself into a rocking chair, gather children at my feet, and share tales of the early 90's.

The thing I learned today is that sugaring has been used for hair removal since B.C. (Not that I plan to ever try sugaring. Just a random thing I read.)

Dammit, I just learned I am older than I was feeling before I read this. lol

That reminds me. One of my little sister's friends said to me "So... Drake used to be on a TV show?"

Oh, child. Take a seat and let me tell you about a little show called Degrassi.

You may not have known who it was but I guarantee you've heard Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch. You know that song "Good Vibrations?" Yep. That's him. And his brother was in a boy band called The New Kids On The Block. His name is Donnie Wahlberg. I think he's starring on some TV show now. (Oh yes, there were boy bands back then. Those have been around for a long time. One Direction is just another in a long line of terrible, terrible boy bands. I don't know if you've ever heard of Hanson but... Well, probably not worth Googling.)

My 21-year-old sister asked me about this not too long ago. She said "Hey... Is Mark Wahlberg Marky Mark?" Hahahaha... Yes! Yes he is!

If you'd told me or probably anyone else of my generation that one day The Fresh Prince and Marky Mark were going to be two of the most popular and successful actors of their generation, be nominated for Oscars, and open blockbusters we'd have laughed our asses off.

Now with Jared Leto we might have believed you. That motherfucker was Jordan Catalano! 30 Seconds To Mars used to be "Jordan Catalano's band."

Jesus, I feel so old. When did this happen? So annoying.

Today I learned....

....that I'm not the only one this made feel old.

Donnie Wahlberg is in Blue Bloods. I'd say he's one dimensional, but he might merit only a portion of a dimension

My 18 yr old nephew was surprised to hear that Will Smith used to sing. I could hear my bones shrivel and cataracts start to form, I felt so fucking old.

Today I learned Imagine Dragons, Turkish pop, and Bollywood music get a surprisingly high amount of airplay on Ugandan radio.

Today I learned that you can't really make monster size peanut butter cookies.
