Haven't really put a lot on here about myself, but I have a question that I'd like to ask people who have know idea who I am to answer. To make this brief for you; I have what is called polycythemia..for short, I produce to much blood. It's rare for a female my age to get this, but not uncommon. It has now advanced, so now with this blood disorder I also have acute leukemia. I'm undergoing radiation and chemotherpy. so my question since I only have a little hair left.

Should I go all natural or get a wig?.....although I love the feel of the wind blowing on my balding head, it's starting to get cold. I had a sort of burgundy hair color before......so if you go for a wig for me tell me a color. I'm up for about anything, although I don't see myself in neon green or pink. Have fun with this people, I intend to make the best out of it.

I can't really suggest anything unless I have a picture to go on ;) you can email me one for your privacy.

After my sister's radiation treatments she would go natural during the warm months and gets sassy fashionable hats for the colder months.

The only wig she bought was a long long curly one she bought for fun.

Not knowing much about you I cannot say what you should do but do not count out the hats, they can be great.

Hi pandora

My cousin had chemo and lost her hair she had a very natural looking wig made and also used bright scarves when she felt like it... she didn't go with out her head covered because she was uncomfortable with the stares.
I say use different things for different moods.

How about a Lady Godiva wig when you are in a goofy mood and whatever warm you're comfy with other times? Have fun with it.

Hey thanks all of you for your suggestions. Lady Govida, yeah I can see me riding a horse through the street naked except for my hair.....giddy up people.

We'd like to see that. Be sure to tell us when and where......

There are times it would be wonderful to be free of hair concerns. Maybe you should have a variety of choices....no hair for days when you want the freedom (I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought Sinead looked lovely without hair, her eyes and cheek bones seemed so pronounced)....a fun wig for days when you are feeling vivacious (Maybe trying out different hairstyles and colors at one of those computerized places where they insert a picture of you and put different do's on you would be a place to start)....then get some fun and cheaper hats and scarves for other occasions.

Nitelight......you give me a time and place and I'd love to show you........oh yeah my wig...hehehe....feeling a little wicked tonight.

It is getting cold, so go out and find something you like to wear to keep ya warm, be creative and have fun with it.

Pan

I feel that you should do what makes you feel comfortable ..If I was in your place I would wear a wig...But I feel that if you feel so sucure in this .Then don't ..But In the cold I would wear one to keep my head warm I would go with you natural color with some high light to make you face a little brighter

HUGs to you
THE WIFE

Thanks again everyone....i did start thinking about this though....even though it's getting cold here, it is after all the south. Hum, G.I. Jane i'm not and sunburn isn't appealing......still liking the godiva thing....never been blond before.

So you mind being bald? If not, go bald. You could go with the hat thing as well, or wear a wig if you're self conscious of being w/o hair. The only one that has to be happy with whatever you decide is you. :)

This is a hard one... *shrugs* I guess I have to go with the general flow of comments. Whatever you feel comfortable with is just fine by me. After all, if you're losing hair from chemotherapy, you've got bigger problems that worrying about baldness... 8)

Although I do have a concrete suggestion if you DO get a wig. Personally, I'd try to stay with the browns/reds for the color. Mostly because those would match your eyes, complexion, etc. a little better than platinum blonde. 'Course, if you find a platinum blonde wig that works for you, then go for it.

My boss lost her hair due to chemotherapy, she had breast cancer. At first, she wore a wig that nearly matched her own hair color. As her own hair started to grow, she would wear hats & scarves. A bunch of us at the store also started wearing hats & scarves, just as a show of support. As her hair grew back, she experimented with gels & mousses. It is all grown back now, but she still keeps it short & it looks terrific. Good luck to you.

oh bobtoad

if I sent you a pic I might wind up with three boobs......talk about having a problem.....

sniff, sniff.shadow won't let my play Godiva
