Seriously, its marketing. The Awards have to find a US audience to pull stars and to be financially viable. Most of the US won't watch a show where the award winners are all a bunch of Brit bands they've never heard of.
For whatever reasons, we have a hard time exporting music to the US, but no trouble importing it (except for the C&W chart, and thank God for that.)

Well, I guess the talent isn't what it was? Not really my strong suit.
The last awards I saw were hosted by Davina McCall who was almost wearing her dress. I don't think I've seen a bigger plunging neckline...... I can't wait for the next event

Ginger has actually revealed that she has a brain, which is a somewhat nice surprise. And I think she looks a million times better than she did as Slapper Spice. But what do I know, I'm a woman.

Jeez I hate to admit it, I like Robbie Williams and the way Ginger Spice now looks.
Of course, Ginger's dyed her hair blondish which always works for me, what can I say.......
I realise you and I are different sexes (noted your blast at Ally) and from different parts of the globe but we sure do have different tastes. The diversity of humanity strikes again.

The Brit awards are an absolute joke. Apparently they use records sold and public votes to determine the winners?
This year Craig David was nominated for 5...or was it 6 awards, and got none. Despite being one of the best singers to emerge in the UK for years. Despite the fact that he had record labels fighting to sign him so they could relese his stuff in America. When was the last time a breakout British artist been so highly in demand based on talent only?

At the moment we're swamped with boy bands, girl bands and all manner of manufactured shite....but soon there will be an uprising of new talent sick and tired of all this crap, it always happens, every few years the charts become full of rubbish pandering to the lowest common denominator then the real artists out there get off their ass's and kick fuck outta the useless wankers

Ash, Sterophonics, Manics and Feeder have all released stuff (although I think if the Manics get any less Rocky they're gonna turn into a boy band.)

#1: I dig Stereophonics and Ash but I think the Manic Street Preachers suck, at least they have since that old singer died.
#2: It's never been a lack of talent. Gomez put out a dynamite disc this year, and two years ago when Blur put out 13(Which I thought was head and shoulders above anything they've done previously) they won jack frigging squat. It's not a question of talent but not recognizing what they have, like the Grammys or the Junos(But don't get me started on the Canadian music scene)
3#: How about the inability to recognize decent stuff in their International categories. I seem to remember that they didn't used to nominate people like Britney Spears and Will Smith.

Wierd isn't it, how there are loads of really great artists in Britain who never get recognition. Just to name a few, like Gomez, Courtney Pine, Nine Yards (three amazing singers who released an album that would have gone platinum if they were American), Tricky......there are so many!
It's great that Ash have released a new album, they hit the nail on the head when they said that a lot of indie recently has just been too moany and depressing! That's exactly what put me off the scene in recent times....
