Everyone has given you fantastic ideas and suggestions. My main tip is: Please don't try to just ignore what you need. You may be able to suppress it for a while (maybe even years and years) but that need *will* raise its head again.

As others have said, being up front about your needs is the most direct option. But other options exist, and even if you tell him directly, he may not understand or may be afraid of treating you the way you need. (My hubby will not fuck me hard and will not be rough with me at all.)
