It turns out that one of the security guards at the top of those Hartsfield escalators one week ago today was 73 years old.
OK … let’s think about this. Your job is to assign a security guard to those escalators. That guard’s job will be to keep people from going down a lengthy up escalator. You know that if someone does go down that up escalator it could, at best, cause a disruption of airport operations or, at worst, the loss of human life. So, what do you do? You put a 73 year-old man there?
Now --- as for the man who ran down those escalators and shut down the nation’s busiest airport for three-plus hours. The security guard is saying that he yelled for Michael Shane Lasseter to stop. “Stop, or you’ll be arrested!” Lasseter’s response? The guard says that Lasseter shouted “To hell with you, I’m gone!”
Let’s see --- while Lasseter tells the security guard “To hell with you, I’m gone!” what are people saying about Lasseter? “It was an innocent mistake.” “It was an honest mistake.”
Take the terms “innocent” and “honest” and apply them to “To hell with you, I’m gone.” Make sense to you?
