How can anybody who has lived 60 years on this earth be THIS stupid?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MILWAUKEE - Call it the case of the perfect clue. A man handed a note demanding money to a teller at the Wells Fargo Bank Thursday, took the money and fled.
Left behind was the note — written on the back of a paper from the state probation and parole department, complete with the man's name on it, Deputy Police Chief Brian O'Keefe said Friday.
The 60-year-old man was soon in custody. He was on parole for bank robbery.
There are two possibilities... 1. he is that stupid
2. He spent so much time in prison for the first bank robery that he considered it home.. and was looking for an invitation to go home for the hollidays
That kind of thing happens a lot. My drummer works at a prison and they released a guy a few months ago who did something similar. He had lived in prison for over 25 years and was scared to be on the outside. He left the prison gates, went about half a mile down the road and robbed a convenience store. Then he sat on the curb and waited for the police to come and get him.
DP, Boota, similar thing happened here in London just yesterday morning. At around 6 AM the local beggar, a regular figure outside an all-night cafe in town, threw a brick through its window, knowing full well that three policemen were in there getting their coffee and bagels.
Yes, this does happen often. It's a common 'stupid criminal' story. I read about one guy who robbed a bank. He wrote the note demanding money on the back of his own deposit slip. The police were waiting for him when he got home.
What a prize Twat! :rolleyes:
Not too long ago I heard about two guys in Kansas City who tried to hold up a minister in a local church. The minister told them he didn't have any money, but he would write them checks if they would give him their names. They did and were apprehended shortly after. :D
dreampilot79 and Boota have the answer.
Many people in prison have no skills and no hope on the outside. They are released and given a couple of hundred dollars. They spend the money and then commit a crime to get back to the free room and board. They are stupid, but not so stupid that they don't know they will be caught. It is just that they are so stupid there is really no viable alternative to prison.
There is a solution, but no one is willing to use it.
I heard one where someone was trying to rob a store of money and beer. The clerk claimed he/she thought the robber was too young to drink, so the robber produced identification.
There should be a serperate category for Darwin-award criminals.
Fellow stole a wallet, took the money and charge cards, and then drove by the house of his victim and threw his own wallet onto the porch. This one was in an Easyriders magazine in the late '70s. Spyder used to do a column of culls from the news.
