Harry Morton was more than a bit annoyed right at the moment, dealing with his colleagues at the office and the idiocy of his boss, Olivia "Livy" Lansing. Holy smokes, that woman didn't have the brains God gave a she-goat! She had already reminded him, and the others, in a not-so-confidential memo, of something that she had already been told was no longer in effect two weeks ago! It wasn't that she was actually stupid. She just didn't listen or pay attention, simply floating around in her own little world which often had little relationship, if any, to reality. How she presumed to share a nickname with a great Roman historian was beyond Harry's comprehension.

That was when it happened. Harry must have fat-fingered some key on his computer keyboard, or some combination of keystrokes, because as soon as he made them, he saw an e-mail pop up in his inbox. He was beside himself with curiosity as he saw the title of the e-mail "New Life Hack." Even if it was a virus, Harry smirked, perhaps that would be poetic justice to the idiots who ran this agency, such as the ones who put Livy in charge instead of a more sensible, level-headed person such as Harry.

For whatever reason, knowing better, knowing the risks, Harry just couldn't help but click the attachment, and then he saw it. The screen on his computer went blank for a bit before returning to normal, with no trace of the e-mail at all in his inbox, not even in the trash bin. That was very odd, Harry thought, even as he angrily replied in his e-mail to his superior, "This policy was reversed two weeks ago, Ms. Lansing. Before you remind subordinates of policies, you should be sure that you have them correctly and accurately understood. By the way, I think that your hair would do better if you let it down, don't you agree?"

The last part was meant as a sort of last minute, tongue-in-cheek act of effrontery, sure that she wouldn't go that far, but perhaps mix in some flattery, humor, and absurdity to show that he wasn't just a grouch or something. Well, the next thing that happened stunned the holy hell out of Harry, as the somewhat younger supervisor Livy came out of her office and unpinned her hair from its bun in front of him.

"Happy now? I've let my hair down. Maybe I'll do that in other ways tonight and you won't be invited to see it!" Livy smirked.

"Yes, I will, because you'll invite me," Harry caught himself saying before he realized it. He couldn't believe what he had just said, but he had said it.....It must have been someone else saying that.

"Okay, then, consider yourself invited. Drinks and supper tonight at 7 pm, but you might as well just follow me home after work," Livy spoke, now red in the face as she invited Harry over in front of her colleagues.

Harry was shocked, too, but he now had the distinct impression that somehow he could instruct and command Livy, give her orders, and she would have to obey. That was strange, but he wanted to push the envelope further.

"Invite Sandra, too," Harry indicated his colleague, as annoying as she was, Sandra Kozic, who was the least irritating of his co-workers, at least partly due to her Bosnian accent.

"Sandra, you're welcome to join us. Three is not a crowd, right?" Livy told them, making Harry smile yet again.

Evidently, Harry had power now.....and he might as well use it. He looked forward to supper that night, and then what might very well follow.....
