To anonymous feedbacker, re: further chapters

I can only hope that you find this, that you occasionally peruse the forums, because I've no other idea of how to respond to your very encouraging words.

The simplest way to say it: I tend to get sidetracked. In fact, had those who named me at birth could've seen into the future, they may have said, "let's just call him Sidetrack" and that would explain a lot. I forget what happened with Constant Windows... maybe several little things - the holidays contests, got back into poetry, music, etc... But I assure you I haven't forgotten it. I still like the story idea, and it's still quite alive and well. If you can hang on for a few days or a week or so, I'll get back on it - got a few other things to tidy up, first, if you please.

My apologies to the crew here - I never had anyone ask for more chapters, so it's a strange feeling, and all the more a quandery when the sender is anonymous, otherwise I would just explain the temporary holdup privately, via email.

Anonymous feedback drives me nuts

I love feedback, don't get me wrong. The more the better! Loads and loads and loads! But I hate it when I get that one confusing comment and want to as "WHY?" or "HUH?" and there's no one to ask because they don't tell you who they were. Or that really great comment that you want to say "thanks" to and you've got no one to thank. Or the worst is when you get the people who question something and don't leave you a means to answer their questions... If "anonymous feedbacker" of any kind reads your comment, I hope he catches this one to.

I'd love to talk to you "anonymous feedbacker"! Don't worry, I don't bite!

What I particularly "enjoy" is when they ask a question you'd like to answer--and not just when they register as anonymous but when they've sent the feedback through Lit. under a fake e-mail address. I'm not talking about the argumentative ones--I don't respond to those at all. But the ones that ask a good question where it's sort of rude for them not to get an answer.

There is a thread on the Author's Hangout forum, however, titled "Anonymous," where you can also try to connect with your anonymous correspondents.

Wonder if it might be more effective to try and contact that precious anonymous individual thru the PC medium, in case he/she might be more likely to go back and relive a particular paragraph, thus chancing to the message, than to peruse the Story Feedback Forum.

Probably so. I've done that.

I wish the Lit feedback system was set up so "Anonymous" wasn't the default setting. Flamers would still use it, of course. But as is, it's very easy to accidentally sign a comment as, Anon.

Rumple Foreskin

Good point.

Also, I've read wise advice somewhere here, that it's a good idea to have works of multiple chapters already written out, rather than write/submit them as you go, thus preventing the delays, glitches, and hitches. As usual, I generally ignore advice (often to my detriment, true), but in this case I had much of it mapped out on paper and in my head. And I always allow a generous margin of surprise if anyone anywhere enjoys for any reason anything I ever present.

When such a stray positive message shows up, it indeed creates a surprise shock sensation. Also, it's sort of the inverse of those who are able to reach the many. In this case, it's a mysterious One, someone somewhere, out there, was pleased, and took the time to ask for more. A strange feeling, but a good strange.

And so...

To Anonymous Feedbacker,
Yesterday I checked out the sketches for future episodes and will spend this week in earnest devoted focus, and hope that the result will be as pleasing as those you've expressed pleasure in already.

I might suggest that there be an "anonymous' area where writers who are sent "anonymous' messages have a way of providing 'anonymous' feedback. Not that all concerned would visit, but maybe more than presently do so the forums.

Probably a dumb idea..

I think it's an excellent idea: Feedbackers Anonymous

And if the anonymous feedbacker chances this way: I took another look at where the tale left off, and found that place severely troubled. Couple glaring errors, and the movements were too hurried, too jerky, too much going on too fast - think Benny Hill sketches - which might be kinda cool for effect, in limited doses, but this was intolerable, even for me. So I've taken that one back to the shop for improvement, and then I think the rest will move along much better (much of it is already sketched out).

And now, back to the regular scheduled program (Hm, see? I first wrote scheluded - which should be a word if it isn't already)

Hm - A Thread of Total Anonymity. I think you're on to something, AS.
