It's not just the house you're paying for... it's the land as well.

I saw the most broken down horrible roach infested houses in Santa Clara sold out at over $400K and $500K and some shitholes out there went for nearly a million, and I know for a fact that there's no way in hell they passed the rot test, termite inspection, etc. Two buyers brought in bulldozers and it was fairly obvious what they were about to do.

A stopped clock is still correct twice a day.

That discussion is three and a half years old. You were saying things about the housing market which, although they may be true now, weren't true then, Nostradumbass.

They were true, Frodolt.

Housing wasn't affordable. They just made scam loans that made housing APPEAR affordable, and now those loans are destroying companies and putting tons of houses into foreclosure.

Now you're blaming the loan companies for causing foreclosures?

What next, blame the Mint for not printing enough money?

You're such a retard. I said, sub prime loans are themselves a wrong headed idea and it's those loans that are kicking the real estate market's ass right now.

I didn't read the whole thread but to answer why many Americans don't own in comparison to other countries (not sure where you are from) might be (true in my a case) large debt from student loans. After six years of college, 2 degrees, my education debt is more than a mortgage.

It boggles the mind why there are any adults in America who do not own a home.

What's up with that?
Maybe they don't want to do:

Yard work
new roof
fix leaks
repair drive ways
add carpet
put down hardwood floors
buy furniture
add insulation
pay property taxes
on and on and on and on.......

Home ownership is overrated.

Hah. Remember this thread?

How many people are laughing now that home prices not only cratered... they did a Deep Impact!

I told you home prices were overinflated. And I got clowned for it, badly.

Now the economy is clowning y'all back. HARD. Hahahahahaha! Didn't see this shit coming, did ya!!!

Sounds like you're speaking out of both sides of your mouth, idiot.:)

I know plenty of people that were preaching the same stupid crap as LT in his opening post.

Urging people to buy real estate when it was totally overpriced shows just how much of a moron he is. Of course those are the exact people currently defaulting on loans.

What? I thought you owned many rentals?

I thought in your dog killing thread you lived way out in the sticks Mr. Gun Owner?

Oh well.:)

Hell, I called him out for his lie of buying a home on his own. He totally backpedaled on the inheritance issue.

Do a search on inheritance and you can find it. To prove me wrong, he linked me to a thread where he wished his mother would go to hell for dying before she repaid him a measly $2,000. Can you imagine?

tent city

Just seen a picture of the former home owners in Sacramento CA now living in tents, is America now becoming a third world country.

I have been a paid off home owner for 12 years.

life can be hard you just have to do anything for money even do jobs the wetbacks will not do.

And the illegals are heading home, too. A sad commentary on how far the 'land of opportunity' has fallen.
