I make all of my internet subbies type in Courier font using pink color with everything italicized. If they disobey this commandment, they lose their smiley priviledges for the rest of the conversation.
Once they have proven themselves, I give them an imaginary collar and demand that they refer to themselves as "this girl" at all times. If they become forgetful, I make them type "this girl is a silly subbie who will not disobey her MASTER again" 10,000 times while I take a nap.
Argh, sometimes it is so hard to sleep while my computer goes "doodle-doo" over and over again as they complete this assignment. In that case, I stay at my computer and talk to prospective new subbies while the first subbie completes her punishment.

I am not a submissive, but still have a few thoughts on the topic...
I start my post with a question: do we talk cyber-submission or cyber-sex?
From what I have seen on the thread so far I take it we talk cyber-sex more than submission, because if it were true submission I guess the answer to

would have to be:
as far as my Dominant sends me.
that said it needs to be understood that this answer is only valid in an established trust- and truthfull relation (obviously in this case long distance or cyber) that has some kind of established pattern.
To answer the "cyber-sex" approach question (and I guess in that moment being Dom or sub makes not all that much difference):
I do all that feels good to me and that fits into the context of the kind of scene I intend to create with my cyber-partner.
Collar and leash are fine - if you like it, as are butt plugs, dildos and pegs. whatever floats your boat is fine - but I'd not go "out of my way" for an occassional play partner in that point. In those cases I would say that "how far you go" depends on the agreement between you and your partner. In any D/s relation those expectations will have been worded and discussed before getting too deep into play( even if "only" cyber), so it shouldn't be an unanswered question in terms of expectations.
Those rules and expectations so should in my opinion entail much more than only some "masturbation demands and rewuirements", but many more "every day" things like journals, e-mails about thoughts and feelings, litte "every day life" tasks" that have nothing to do with sex at all ....

Thanks for your 2 cents Hecate. (Actually, it made sense to me) A cyber D/s relationship can be as good as you make it. Concerning your point about the Crossword puzzle, in Real Life how can you be sure of what your Dom/Domme is doing in the other room while you are restrained?
Basically it all boils down to a trusting relationship. That is important in any type of relationship. I agree with you that the relationship should not be just sex. A sexual relationship is great, but it usually not for the long-term.
