Just a thought. Is there a common thread to your titles?

Mine are mostly puns or references to things. Most of them aren't that obvious really, but I just get the idea of them from something else. Seducing Dawn - Chasing Amy, From a Boeing 747 - From a Buick 8, Sarah Meets Satyr - Richard Blackwood Meets...

Anyone else notice this kind of thread in your titles?

I only wish I was that clever. *sigh* Usually my titles suck eggs. Oh I have a few floating around in my head that I like, but I never seem to be able to come up with a story to match and then the stories I do write don't inspire great or clever titles at all. Guess I'm just title challenged.

I've had a few such "private jokes" within my titles.

"Best Little Whorehouse in MiddleEarth" - from "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

"Fucking Beauty" - from "Sleeping Beauty".

"Kurt Olsson XXX-special" - from a Swedish comedy series, featuring the handyman Kurt Olsson.

"My Japanese Boy" - inspired by the song with the same title.

"The Sorceror's Boner" - from "Harry Potter and The Sorceror's Stone".

Svenska: I got the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas one, but Fucking Beauty did confuse me. I'm sorry, but when I see it I think of an Australian saying: 'You little ripper. You fuckin' beauty."

Not until I had already hit "submit" did it occur to me that I should have named it "Sleeping With Beauty" instead...

I usually write the story then think of a title to fit it, sometimes think of a title then write a story round it, not often though.

I'm a lazy git, I don't try anything complex with the title, just keep it simple.

"Naughty Marlene" For a Cheating wife story.

"A nice surprise for Brian" Relates to a forced story.

"Jane's family affairs", you've guessed it, 'incest'.

"Rosemary, her part in my downfall", was to be an anal (true) tale, but the editors put it in incest because she was my cousin.

All very simple, I aint no imaginitive bloke.

I wouldn't say there's a common thread to my titles, just links to the story, occasionally.

"Day One" was a rewording of that saying "today is the first day of the rest of your life" which I worked into the end to the story.

"Party Pooper" was pretty obvious, especially since it's an anal story and it took place at a party.

"Two Days In The Sun" I actually stole from the movie "2 Days In The Valley"

"Quiet in the Library" is also elf explanatory if you know the story - set in a library, don't make any noise - that sort of thing.

My much ignored "A Look Through Her Eyes" was just that, someone else's perspective.

"Harem" series is also very self explanatory.

I don't try to be too clever, I want to save that for mainstream literature.

my favorite technique which i use as much as possible is to send a story to Tatewaki or have my boyfriend read it and think of clever titles FOR me.

"Clarafication" about a man who's involved with a girl named "Clara"
"End Game" an anal story that involves a game of chess.

"The Alternative" about a girl given the choice of prison or living an alternative lifestyle.
"Taboo Trek" an incest story about a brother and sister hiking together.
(Thank you Boyfriend)

"A Dance". Two "kids" at a Dance.
"Megan & Julie" about girls named Megan and Julie.
Whoops. Forgot to ask for help.
