I think this is pretty amazing.

Apparently the player, Bandmaster Wallace Hartley put it in it's case and strapped it to his body before the ship went down, after playing with his bandmates for most of the duration of the sinking to calm passengers.

Very cool.

Even in WW2, Merchant seamen had their pay stopped from the time their ship was sunk, because they were no longer on board.

my thoughts exactly, most of the victims died from hypothermia and drowned to due to temperature shock.

to post the phrase 'cool' in such a context is very poor taste.
