Tips for your survival, young and old.

I thought I would give you, just some of the tips I've learnt from being on this board. They will help to make this place a pleasure to visit, and might even show those that don't wish to join in, where they are going wrong.

1) If you start a thread, and you undoubtedly will, try to make it interesting, I know that goes without saying, but read on.

2) The very first time you get someone who just wants to fuck with your thread, pass by that name from that moment on, if he/she isn't recognized they will stop.

3) Occasionally you will not be able to hold back from what someone has said, in these circumstances, try to answer clearly, intelligently, and with composure. (I haven't always managed this in the past myself, but I try)

4) Try to answer people's questions, it makes for a good open discusion, and if you are like me in anyway, you will enjoy the banter.

5) Don't worry about the flirting, it will happen from time to time, and it can be fun.

6) Never give out personal information, such as your email address or your IM on the board, it's a mistake, trust me.

7) And finally, have fun, ask your questions and join in with the others, you will find them to be a great laugh, and a joy to be around.

I'm sure someone will object to this post, probably a guru who thinks they should have done this, but it doesn't matter, it's done, live with it.

Carl you have been here longer than some of the Guru's so feel free ... hell if you were a newbie feel free. This is EVERYONE'S board you know.

I tend to agree with what you have said. I myself am trying not to post one liners, or flirt too often ... the one that I want to flirt with isn't on much anyway. But I do agree nontheless with what you have said.

I try to ignore the ones that I have a problem with and I try to answer to the best of my abilities. I also try to have fun in doing that and that is what we all need to do.

Killer means the "From" info to the left of the posts. Mine says "From the Land of Legos, Hot Wheels, and K'nex," and I wish to God I could change it. I used to muck around with it periodically, but when the site went to the new format, I found I couldn't do that anymore.

Anyone able to tell us how to fix that? If Laurel has to do it, forget it. She has too many other more important things to do. I'll have to live with it.

That's one of the things the new script will fix. I think they are going to be worth the wait.

I'm helping to debug the new site format, and it's really close to being ready. There will be a bit of learning curve involved but it's not a very steep one.
