I have a new very long story which I intend to split into 4 parts and submit to "Novels and novellas". It is not seasonal. Do I wait until after the new year to get more readers? I suspect that readership wil drop generally over the holidays, and some folks will be exhausted by the contest stories.

my idea is to finish with your edit and then submit it no matter when you do it. if youre ready then you should submit it. who knows what the reader base will be? i think that after the contest your reading will increase some but then the holidays might slow it down some...but you never know. why wait?

Alternately, people will be off work for extended periods. this may actually increase the number of readers as they will have some time. Of course privacy is another matter :)

I would say post when it's ready. If you conciously set about trying to post in optimal conditions with the readership, you seem to me to be doomed to fail by murphy's law if nothing else :)

Thanks. I went ahead and submitted on 12/10, in 4 parts. Total of 22 Lit pages- 6, 6, 5, 5 by part.

Title "Who's Vanilla Now?".
