Just wondering if anyone has plans to spend New Years Eve at Times Square this year.It will be my first in years and I figured I will go this year after getting 2 days of closure at Ground Zero.

I rang in 1997 in Times Square and I've been planning on doing it again sometime.

This year more than ever I want to get down there and go after everything that has happened but unfortunately I am unable to. (Unless some kind of miracle occurs)

A friend and I, however have been discussing plans to be there to ring in 2003.

USMC?

I don't do New Years. just another day, I even hold classes and then get home early. It's amateur's night to us heavy drinkers.

I am so wanting to go to TS this year and will but alone. My brother has changed his ways since tower one crashed on him. He no longer takes Penn Station and goes via Brooklyn to get to Manhattan so to get him to go with me is null and void. I have been gone from NY since 1984 so all my contacts are married and gone elsewhere. So I will go solo after 2 days working Ground Zero

Living in Times Square Area

Actually living blocks away from where the world watches each new year arrive is pretty exciting! I never had the desire to be part of the crowd though, but enjoy watching the mobs of people celebrating in the neighborhood. Not sure yet what my plans will be, but if a party invite doesn't come about, I would be content watching TV, drinking some wine and sharing time with my special man and good friends.

Have a safe trip and a fun evening, Vinny! Check out the site below for some extra information.

What is odd with me is the fact that I hate clubbing. I hate going to parties. I hate huge crowds and I am more of a homebody than anything.

Times Square on New Years is fucking awesome though. I loved it when I was there.

I still want to go soo damn bad. But I can't this year. Have fun Vinny!

I should be leaving for NY tonight. I hope plans stick but other things popped up. But if I do go I will be going solo but I will have fun anyway.

I went last year to Times Square with one of my
friends to ring in 2001....wow....what an experience
standing out, in the middle of the action, in the freezing
cold!!! BRRRRR! It was well worth it though! :) My first
time too, I might add. This year I am not going, because
of what's happened.....but I know in the future, would
love to go again! :)

Happy 2002!

TJ

I don't know why,

But I have never had the desire to go to Times Square for New Year's Eve. I don't want to be standing out in the freezing cold with thousands of other drunken assholes, no bathroom in sight. It just doesn't appeal to me.

Re: I don't know why,

I agree with you on those things but being in Texas I may never get the chance to go there again. But may I ask, what is your idea of a good New Years night for you and with who?

I will watch the ball drop, at home, alone.

New Year's plans fell apart! Egads!

If I were closer to the city, I would be happy to go to the Square with you, Vinny.

New York is exciting on any day, then add a holiday or grand sporting event and whooo weeee.

(I was there on Halloween many years ago. The same year and week that the Mets won the series. Oh what fun!)

Well, two years ago I had a great New Year's Eve. My two good friends, my stepbrother and I went to a huge bar on Long Island. They had live bands there, and they were good. Last year, I paid $125 to go to a nice place on the upper east side, and it stunk, so you can never tell what's going to be good.

Re: Re: Re: I don't know why,

So do you have plans yet for this year? I guess it all matters who you go with and what you do.
