Time Waits for No One: Closer Than Family(Closed for The_Gladiator)

She laughed softly as her nerves were chased away, kissing his chest before she smiled up at him. "Just remember...you're cooking breakfast in the morning," she teased, remembering the deal they'd made. "You're sleeping in my bed, so I expect you to hold up your end of the deal," she added with a grin.

She rolled her eyes playfully, stretching a little as she cuddled closer to him. "Mmm...there might be a few menus in that drawer under the phone. One of them has to deliver," she answered with a smile, resting her head against his chest after she pulled the blanket over them.

he kissed the top of her head, "Sounds like a plan." he said softly. He didn't know whether what he did was right, but it sure felt right. He had thought he was in love with Lisa, but could he have been wrong? He couldn't get his drink soaked mind around the problem so decided to just accept it and enjoy this special moment. He slowly closed his eyes already feeling himself beginning to drift towards sleep.

She relaxed in his arms with a smile, closing her eyes as she felt him kiss the top of her head. She knew they'd have things to talk about in the morning, but she was content with pretending they didn't have any worries at that moment. "Night, Mark," she whispered, hugging herself to his body as she drifted off to sleep.

Mark murmered something that sounded a little like night, but was more mumble than word so one couldn't be sure as he was already well into sleep.

That night's sleep was the best that Roxy could ever remember, though she didn't feel too hot when she woke up. She'd forgotten to pull the shades down, so the sun was streaming through her windows and right onto her face. That plus the pounding headache she had caused her to groan softly. Slowly untangling herself from Mark's arms, she moved out of bed and into the bathroom. After downing a couple tylenol and drinking some water, she went back into her room and plopped back onto the bed.

"Fuck, turn out the light." Came Mark's groan from under the pillow he had yanked over his head to shut out the light. He was apparently trying not to wake up.

"Can't...would need a solar eclipse to do that," she mumbled, though she managed to climb out of bed again and pull down the shades. She got back in bed and snuggled down under the covers, trying desperately to fall back asleep so she could sleep off her headache.

He rolled over lifting the pillow to look at Roxy. "You're naked." he said as if it was unexpected to him. and then comprihension dawned in his eyes, "We fucked last night, didn't we?" he said as his memories returned, a smile beginning to replace the confusion on his face. "Mmm, and it was good too." he commented answering his own question.

Roxy slowly opened her eyes, lifting her head to look more at him. "I do recall great sex last night," she said with a blush as she pulled the sheet up around her, feeling a little shy at the moment now that she was thinking clearly. "And since you're naked too, I'm gonna assume it was with you and not that guy who went to Brazil," she teased with a smile, running a hand through her hair as she sat up some.

"We really did have sex didn't we?" he said sounding almost disbelieving. "I mean I wouldn't regret it but... wow, that's a bit sudden." He wanted to touch her, but was now almost afraid to afraid this wasn't real.

She blushed again, reasting back against the headboard. "We did have sex...and I'll agree that it was sudden," she murmured, still clutching the sheet around her. "The only regret I have is that we won't be able to do it again," she mumbled, suddenly remembering the fact that he had a girlfriend. "Umm...I'm gonna go grab a shower, if you want to order breakfast," she suggested as she climbed out of bed, making her way to the bathroom before she could hear his reply. She turned on the shower and hopped in, then just stood there as she thought about everything that had happened in the past 24 hours.

"why can't it happen again?" he wondered standing up, and then he remembered he had a girlfriend. Well, not for long probably now. Mark waited a minute, and then walked to the bathroom "Roxy?" he asked poking his head into the bathroom.

Roxy nearly jumped when she heard Mark's voice, snapping out of her trance of toughts. "Y-yeah...what's up, Mark?" she asked as she dipped her head back to start washing her hair, quite aware of how there was just a curtain seperating them.

He started to speak, "Uh." pausing, "Can I..." he paused as if stealing himself and then he sighed, "Can I ask what you want for breakfast?" he asked lamely, obviously not saying what was really on his mind.

Her hands paused when she heard him start to speak, her head resting against the wall of the shower when he finished. "Just bacon and scrambled eggs is fine," she told him softly, sighing a little as she realized just how hard it felt to talk to him now...the one thing she'd desperately been afraid of.

He started again, "You don't need anyone to wash your back, do you?" he asked knowing his face was blushing, wanting her to say yes, fearing she would say no, fearing she would say yes.

She felt butterflies start up in her stomach again, her nervousness restarting once again. She took a deep breath and pulled back the curtain a little bit, blushing a little when she stuck her head out and saw him. "I guess I could use some help reaching a couple spots," she replied softly, giving him a nervous smile.

Still Naked he approached her slowly his eyes on hers, "You're mad at me aren't you?" he asked softly as she gave him room to step into the shower.

She shook her head, though she couldn't help covering her chest with an arm. "Why would I be mad at you? You didn't force me to do anything I didn't want to do," she murmured as she looked up at him. "I could never be mad at you, Mark...you know that."

he stepped into the shower and kept his distance seeing her cover herself, "Am I making you uncomfortable?" he asked softly, "Cause I can leave, if you want me to." he said softly.

She shook her head again, sighing a little. "I don't want you to leave...and you're not making me uncomfortable," she replied softly, taking a deep breath as she moved closer and dropped her arm. "I'm just afraid that this will change things between us," she admitted, running a hand through her hair. "I don't want to lose you," she added, though she knew she really didn't have a right to him. He had a girlfriend, one that she caused him to cheat on the night before.

"You are still my best friend, no matter what happened, no matter what might happen." he said touching her shoulder softly, "And to tell you the truth, I don't know why this didn't happen sooner." he said softly

She couldn't help moving forward, wrapping her arms around his waist as she rested her head against his chest. "I think it didn't happen sooner because we were afraid...I know I was. I'd be lost without you...I didn't want to do anything that would mess up our friendship," she murmured.
