Seasonal Salutations,

The holidays may be over, but a new turkey entitled 'Mix & Match" has just shown up on the Story Discussion Circle chopping block and is ready to be carved up by Literoticas cracked crew of crafty critiquers. Don't let the fact the author, a great human being named Rumple Foreskin (that's me), currently has two kids in school and a hungry dog with fleas influence your judgement.

But seriously folks, if the SDC is to continue function, even spasmodically,, it needs some more writers to volunteer a story. If in doubt, ask TheEarl and MaxSabastian what they thought of the experience.

I submitted my first story I wrote to the SDC. Brave, I know, but slightly foolhardy as I had no idea what actually went on.

They tore it to pieces. Picked holes in what I thought was my masterpiece. However as I read over it I realised that they were all right. Every one of them. Annoying, but true. I then rewrote the story based on their advice and IMHO it is more than twice the story the first attempt was.

In order to offer your story up for ritual sacrifice you have to review two other people's stories. This in itself is a learning experience. Reviewing other people's stories is a great way to learn what not to do. Go there and learn. It's well worth the effort for anyone who wants to improve their writing.

Thank you Story Discussion Circle. You've changed my life :D.

The Earl

PS. ProofReadManx, I swear I'll get round to doing your story soon.

Good thread, Rumple!

Come on by Authors! -- a number of us are hungry to feast on a wing, devour a gizzard, munch on a leg, or suck on the neck of your story :D .

Seriously, it's just a great way to understand the critiquing process, a great way to interact with other Lit Authors, and a great way to pickup some new fans--it's a great way to learn about what works and what doesn't, and what could be done to improve a story submission.

For those serious about writing, you WILL be confronted with some similar type of reviews elsewhere when presenting your 'masterpieces' for public consumption. What better venue to try out and learn about this than amongst your friends and family here on Lit.

And to Earl's point, yes it does takes a little braveness, surely to be humbled, but then again, maybe to be praised as well! And believe us when we say this, it is well worth it!

Remember, to first review the "Sticky Rules" at the top of the SDC to participate so KillerMuffin doesn't banish your post to oblivion.

(P.S. Earl, take your time with my story... it's a busy season, I'm sure ;) ).

PRM: I wish it was such laudable notions as being busy, but it's a mixture of laziness and fear that the quality of your writing will scare me into writer's block again :D.

Moi? LOL! Surely not!

Earl, you are amongst friends here on this saner side of Lit, and don't you forget that. I think others may have said this in response to you on some other occasion, and that is, when I was your age, I know, for me, I couldn't write a 1/10 as well as you do now.

So, there! Take that! :D

No, almost no-one's actually said that before. Taffy J (God bless her little cotton socks) was amazed at the fact that I write at 18, but apart from that.

Just out of interest, how did people find out my age? I don't remember telling that many people. Is it on my profile?

Running late as always

I'm reading! Shhhhh! I'm reading, between trying to take peeks at the foxy librarian... LOL. I'll hit the SDC soon. Thanks for the headsup. and I agree Earl. Writing as well as you do, no qualifier on age, just pisses me off... LOL... Something to aspire to, perhaps be jealous of?. Keep it up.
