On a serious note~
Does anyone know what is going on with the servers, not just Lit. but across the Internet.
I'm having extreme difficulty in accessing web sites through Google, often there is no pick up at all or pages are half loaded. I've also noticed that my internal clock is losing about one second a day, and some programmes report significant time differences from 'real time'.
I use mac.com to send stuff to UK by direct file transfer, we are getting significant time lags between posting files and files being available at the other end.
Run virus checks and scans and all comes up clean, that suggest the problem is 'external'. Not being paranoid, just curious.

Worms
I know that the Email servers here in the US are having a terrible time with the Doom worm and others flooding the email system with virus emails. The way our computer guy explains it to me is that the worm takes my Email list of 80 or so and sends an email to all of them, I am on their email lists so say perhaps 20 come back and hit me again, now I'm sending the same email 20 times to each of my 80 or so (which starts to slow my machine as it tries to send the 1600 emails) of which the original 80 are sending me back 20 times each and the math gets mind boggling when you think that each of them are getting the same return emails and sending them onto others and pretty soon my machine is smoking, I'm lounging waiting for it to add 2+2 and the internet is swamped. Antivirus never looked so good. A decent firewall doesn't hurt either.

That bloody Doom Worm has been a pain in the butt, but from one man's misery breeds another man's fortune.
My Hubby has been very busy recently, doing cash in hand, on the side jobs, clearing and cleaning a lot of his client's computers.
He doesn't ever charge much, though, just enough to cover expenses and a little of his time. They are always very pleased, too, because they don't have a clue when it comes to crap like that.

That thing, Doom or that other one, whassitsname, can target and overload traffic bottleneckson the net. So some people might experience the net as dead, while others have no problem.

No problem here, as I have a good firewall and antivirus at home.
I wallow in the mess at work though.
The smart ass IT guys are bending over backwards to clear the complete network for the administration, and the various networks for educational purposes.
Pity I cannot help them, as I am just a teacher.
Whohahaaaa! The best fun is at the expense of someone else.
Feeling distinctly evil tonight.
