Kali had grown up in the same small town; she had gone to a local community college but small town life wasn't for her. So when a major dance company had discovered her she jumped at the opportunity. She hadn't been back since. She worked all the time and didn't leave time to fly back. Her parents had retired in Arizona so there was nothing left. She got the invite to her ten year reunion and had laughed. Not a chance she would go. But some of her friends tried to tell her she should go... that she could use the break. After much thought she booked her flight and hotel.

The date quickly came and she found herself driving the familiar streets of her childhood. She checked into her hotel room and after a few phone calls was convinced to attend the local high school football game. At the game she sat with a couple friends whom she hadn't talked to in years. As the game got going her attention was drawn to the coach... obviously the coach of her youth had retired.... but this coach looked familiar.... "Wait- is that Joey?" Kali had followed his college career... it seemed he was everywhere... then he had gone to the big time..... they explained his career ending injury and how he had come home to coach. She smiled as she watched the game... thinking back to their glory days.

Joey Jones had been the local star of his hometown football team. Everyone knew he was and everyone followed him to college and his standout years there. After college Joey was lucky enough to be drafted and play in the NFL. With a bright future in front of him his world was turned upside down as he suffered a career ending concussion on one of the hardest sacks known to the game. The clip is still played from time to time whenever the concussion issues in football is brought back up.

After this happen Joey turned to his degree in Physical Education and returned home to take over the team he had lead to back to back state championships as the quarterback. When returning home Joey became the center of attention again in this sleepy little town which made it hard for him to have a life outside of football because of gossip and drama. On this Friday night Joey led his team out for their annual homecoming game and that years 10 year reunion game. Joey was now 11 years removed from high school but knew most of the people who came back and it was good to see old teammates. As the game played on the team had a huge lead by halftime. As the players make their way back to the locker room for half time the people back for the reunion standing by the gate for the halftime presentation on the field. Joey was shaking hands tryin to get back to the locker room as quickly as possible as he looked up and saw a stunningly beautiful brunette. It quickly hit him just who it was. He had been a year older then Kali but knew who she was because she dated a friend of his. Joey suddenly lost track of getting back to the locker room and smiled at her. "Kali is that you?" He asked as he pulled he head set from off his neck handing it to the manager. "Wow! How long has it been?"

She was suprised that he even remembered her. She smiled at him and nodder her head laughing, "Hi Joey. Yes its me.... and it must be 11 yrs now. You look great out there!" She couldnt help but to smile around him. That was the way that it had always been. When she had dated his friend... wow she couldnt even remember his name. Kali and Joey had always gotten along.

Their conversation was cut short by the crowd, his coaching staff waiting on him, her friends waiting,on her. She laughed and shrugged her shoulders. "Well it was great to see you again!" She was shuffled into the crowd for the halftime presentation but she looked back over her shoulder as he headed for the lockerroom.

As Joey headed into the locker room he quickly got back on track and have his halftime spill. Soon the team was back on the field warming up again. Joey made his walk back to the sideline. As he did the reunion folks were clearing off. Joey saw Kali again and she just happened to glance his way. As she did he smiled at her. The manager then headed him his headset and it was back to work.

The game ended in a blow out and the crowd was soon on the field huddled around to hear Joey's speech. He made it quick and short and the team huddled around him as one of the players said a prayer. As the prayer ended the players stood up did a cheer and Joey slipped out behind them. As people congratulated him and reporters from the paper asked question Joey answered however the cute brunette from his past had caught his eye again as she stood to the side still talking with friends. Once the reporters were done Joey started back to the locker room but before he did he stopped one last time to talk to Kali. "It was really good seeing you again Kali." He says smiling at her "maybe I will see you around before you leave town again?"

They had made eye contact a few times throughout the night and it gave her little butterflies, she wasnt sure why but they were there just the same. When he approached her again she laughed and smiled, "Im here through tuesday. Its a very small town, I am sure we will see eachother again." She winked at him playfully as a new crowd approached to talk to Joey. She laughed and shook her head, "Some things never change huh? " she motioned towards the crowd, "your fans await." She teased.

Joey laughed as she teased him. "Yeah well it's not all its cracked up to be. "I will be looking for you!" He says with a smile and then makes his way to the locker room as people shakenhisnhand an try to have a word with him.

After reachin the locker room Joey debriefs his staff and then dismisses his staff. He then showers and changes into gym shorts and a Tshirt as he goes right to work on the next weeks game plan. However, Joey cannot focus as for the first time in a very very long time his thoughts are on a lady. The little cute and sexy brunette Kali who had stumbled back in from the past. Joey sat there for a few more minutes and then remembered he had received an email from one of the teachers at school with all the contact info of the former students attending this evening. Joey hadn't even looked at it the first time but now found himself scanning it to see if he could get lucky and find a number. As he scrolled through there it was Kali's number. Grabbing his cell phone he debated wether or not to do it and finally did. Typing her number in he sends her a text. "Hey Kali. It's Joey! I know this is some what stalkerish if that is even a word. But I just had to tell you one more time how good it was seeing you again tonight!" Pressing send he began having butterflies himself

She had made it back to her room and heard her phone buzz. When she read the text she laughed and replied, "well its is a little stalkerish, im not even going to ask how... but I would be ok having you as a stalker..... it was great to see you again too!!!"

She hit send and sat back on the bed, flipping aimlessly thru the minimal tv channels.

Joey heard his phone go off as he sat at his desk. Smiling as he read the message he typed back. "Well in that case sign me up as your number 1 fan! I mean I always did have a secret crush on you so I guess it is on to confess my thoughts to you!!" He laughed and pressed send hopin the flirty chatter would not end.

She read his reply and smiled, he had had a crush on her!? She thoight back to their childhood and it made her wonder if things had gone differently, where they would be today.
"And it took you over 11 years to tell me!? That doesnt sound very stalker ish. You better step up your game! Lol. But in all seriousness, I always had a thing for you too..... timing just was never right." She hit send and couldnt believe she had just admitted that to him!

Reading her response the same thoughts filled his head as did here about what could have been. "Well I guess that is true about the stalker guess I am not very good at that! Lol. But I must admit the way you looked in those jeans tonight made it very very hard for me to concentrate on my real job!" Joey smiled and pressed send once again

Wow, she was actually blushing. "Well thank you. That is quite the compliment coming from a celebrity such as yourself! You dont look half bad yourself!"

"Celebrity please! You are the one who is the professional dancer and I don't mean exotic dancer! Even though I am sure those hips could do quite the dance moves! I have kept up with you! The largest dance company in the nation and you are one of the main performers! Now that is celebrity not me! I mean there are some dancers from this town but none other than you that doesn't require a pole! Lol" Joey presses send then thinks about how well he bets she really could move with that nice little dancers body!

She laughs, shocked that he had followed her career. "Well thank you. Didnt think anyone from our little town would have followed me... and quit picturing me on a pole!"

She hits send and leans back on the bed. How good it felt to reconnect to him.... it had been years, and yet they were texting like no time had passed.

Smiling as he reads the text about her on a poke he laughs. Then types back. "Of course I followed your career. It's not everyday you can say you know one of the best dancers in the world! And as for the pole! There is nothing wrong with a man having fantasies! Lol. I know this is a little straight forward but would you like to have a beer tonight? I am about to leave the school and was just about to head home I could stop and grab us a 6 pack and swing by your hotel? If you have already turned in for the night I understand. But the speed of my texting it may take me 4 years to have a decen conversation with you! Lol" Joey pressed send and then began to lack his things up to leave the office

Kali reads his text and considers it for a minute. She glanced around her room and shrugs typing back, "sure. I would like that... Im just sitting here flipping thru the channels." She hit send,then went to her suitcase and changed into a pair of comfy yoga pants and a tank top.

Half an hour later Joey arrived at her hotel room with a 12 pack of beer and a pizza which was a weekly tradition the pizze joint in town gave him after every game. Tapping on the door he stood there and took a deep breath for some reason he had become a little nervous. As the door opened he couldn't help but admire how good she looked even when dressed down. As she stood there he smiled holding the pizza and beer. "Umm yes mam. I have your delivery!" he playfully stated as he stood there holding the pizza like a delivery boy.

Kali laughed and stepped to the side letting him inside. "Wow, thats impressive delivery... I cant get beer delivered to my apartment... girl could get used to this."

She closed the door and followed him over to the tiny table where he put the pizza and beer down. Stepping up next to him she loosly wrapped her arms around his neck in a friendly hug. "Thanks for texting. I honestly never expected to see you.... makes me happy I decided to come back."

As he set the pizza down and wrapped her hand around his neck Joey felt electricity hadn't experienced in a very long time run through his body. His hands softly touched her hips as she hugged him. "My pleasure! It's not everyday you get to have a conversation with someone who treats you like a real person and not some character!" He laughed and then sat down at the table and tore open the 12 packs sliding her a beer and opening one for himself.

"So I really like what you have done with the place!" He teased as he looked around the standard hotel room.

She laughed and shrugged, "Hey, you may still be Mr Big Shot around here... but to me you will always just be Joey." She sat down across from him and opened her beer, taking a sip and laughed at his comment about her room. "Yeah, i Kinda go for the minimlistic look." She shook her head laughing as she sipped her beer.

As she laughed at him Joey smiled across the table at her as he opened the pizza box a handed out a piece to her and him on some paper plates he had grabbed from the pizza shop. "So Md. Fancy non pole dancer? How did a busy big city girl such as yourself find time to come home to this sleepy old town and tease us with your presence?" Joey smiled sipping he beer. "I mean it's not everyday the prettiest lady to ever walk the hallways shows back up for a 10 year reunion?" Taking a bite of the pizza and lookin over at her Joey winked and sipped his beer.

Kali rolled her eyes and laughed. "Now there's an exaggeration if ive ever heard one! We finished up our tour of performances and its a small break for all of us. I had a two week window and friends convinced me to come to the reunion." She bit into her pizza and shrugged. "So here I am." Smiling, "gotta admit I never thought I would be sitting here with Joey Jones of all people."

Joey laughed as she said this "oh yeah? The famous Joey Jones! And who would have thought I would be sitting here with Professional Dancer Kali Riley? And reminding her not to talk with her mouth full of food!" I laugh and sip my beer. "I guess you can the girl out of the woods but you can't take the woods out of the girl!" Joey grinned "either way you look cute face stuffed full of food or dressed up to turn heads at the little town 10 year reunion!" Joey teased her looking across the table

She laughed at him and swallowed her piazza. "What can you say... its just who I am... there are days I feel like a really don't fit in the city.... and I think about life back here.... " she smiled. "My goal in coming here wasn't to turn heads... I kinda planned on fading into the background actually. Makes for an easier escape when I need it." She ate some more piazza. "So hows life here? I mean I know you know what the dirt is on this place." She winked at him

"Well the dirt is you have to live like a square or everyone and their momma will be gossiping about you. Get caught drinking a beer you are an alcoholic. Get seen with a lady you are about to get married. Don't win a football game and they are ready to hang you in the square!" Joey laughs and opens a second beer. "Sometimes I wish I was back in the city working a construction job or something so you could just blend in and be normal! But then again if that happened I wouldn't get to see my all time crush come to town when she finally makes her way back home from the big city!" Joey winks back a swigs the beer

She laughed because she knew it was true. "Oh man I hate to think of what they would think of you being in my hotel room and us drinking beer.... yikes. Hope I don't ruin that golden boy reputation of yours." She took another drink. "Well if you ever need a break from small town life you now know who to call, come to my city stay with me and I will guarantee you a good time." She laughed, "and there would be no pole required."
