Robbie Williams is going to be on the Tonight Show!!

This has been an April Special Report. We now return you to your regularly scheduled shenanigans.

Finally!!!

A reason to watch the Tonight Show. I love Robbie Williams. :D

I don't know.
His last few movies have sucked.
Did anyone see Father's Day?

What?
Huh?
Oh......

Is that the one with Jay Leno or the one with David Letterman...?

At last!! Good news!

Anyone watch last night's show? Did Bill Maher self-destruct, or what?

I try mightily to avoid Bill Maher! I consider him a witless moron who is his own biggest fan. The only other one as low as him in the food chain in my estimation is Geraldo Rivera.

OUTSIDER: Leno

Bill Mayer truly dug himself a grave last night. There's funny, there's edgy, there's controversial, there's satire, and then there's just being pissy.

Your lucky, Jay Leno hasn't been funny since he was a guest on Letterman's show.

Where's Johnny?

I dunno I find Letterman kinda creapy......and Lenos a biker so he can't be all that bad...:)

I'm so excited about it. LOL I can't wait. I have to, but I don't want to. Only about 7 and a half more hours!

I normally like him, too, which is why it was so apinful to watch him last night.

I can't truly describe it, because most of the "digging" had to do with bad timing, humorlessness, and a misplaced idea that the audience was going to be with him.

Let me tell you a story first to give you an diea of why I think he shot himself in the foot.

Years ago I had a killer club act that was centered around a whimical charater I'd created for myself. I was so hot, and got such good reactions from the audience that all I ahd to do to handle a hecker was a take. You know what I mean? I only had to [/i]look[/i] at the heckler a certain (cute) way, and the audience would scream and be on my side.

Well, I was working out a new act one night, no character, and much edgier and political, in front of an audience that didn't know me from Adam. I got a heckler, and threw him the look. Crickets, baby, I got crickets. The audience had no idea what I was doing.

Shit! I'm out of my arena, I realized. After that I worked on my snappy comebacks (and got the point where I could destroy a biker bar full of Hell's Angels, and live).

Anyway, that's what happened to Bill last night.

He and Jay were discussing the recent China flap, and bill was going on and on with his outrage about how the U.S. actually "apologized" for the incident. Jay bantered with him, quesitoning him, and Bill, in total ire-up mode, sat opened mouthed and peeved saying, "Can I finish? Can I finish? Did you not go to Talk Show host school and learn to let the guest answer a question?"

Jay was great (actually, the closest in years I've seen him to being the club comic he used to be, and not a cartoon character), and kept say, "Go ahead, go ahead."

Bill continued to sit there, mouth agape, his hands outstretched like he was saying, "Can you believe this?"

Now, on PI he does this and the other guests chime in with their comments and the audience applauds or his Producer goes to commercial. ALL the things he uses for timing. LAst night there was none. The audience was stony silent, there were no other guests chiming in, and he was left to look pissy and unprepared.

He tried to save himself with a lame "asian driver" joke about the Chinese pilot joke who hot-dogged his way in front of our spy plane, and got groans.

Then he went off on some tangent about the feminization about America, but doggedly refused to present it in a ocmic light, instead preferring to present himself as Sage, again, thinking that he was on his own show doing a monologue and not on the Happy, Shiny Tonight Show set where his usual trappings don't exist. He totally blew it.

Then Lolita Dovagovitch (spelling???) came out flabbergasted with Maher and proceeded to let him know how pissy he was being and told Jay the show was going downhill and could they please show a clip from her movie and save it. And, as flighty as that was, she was right.

So...Anybody have any thoughts or opinions on tonight's show? I thought Janet was absolutely adorable and delectable. LOL Sweet, charming, and shy. Wonderful. Robbie? Amusing as always. I swear the guy's a loon! Not his best performance, but it was a nice change from his usual music.

April,

I liked his Sinatra-like performance. Mostly, I don't care what he sings. I could listen to him sing all day :D

My little sister was crushed when I told her Robbie was on the tonight show because even she can't get it on her super-duper cable system....shame they don't do it on the net..?

BTW, there's talk about him becoming the next James Bond...what do you think...?
