Don't you just love a good Spring thunderstorm? it is early morning here, and it is raining hard. It sounds like one of those sound effect tapes you can buy with the storm moving in, sounds of the rain and thunder, then the rain letting up and the birds singing to the "drip drip drip" in the background. Only to repeat the whole process with the next storm rolling through the area.

You gotta love Spring!

Storms make me so alive! So aware of everything around me. So horny. I bet Cheyenne that it does the same to you, right?

Storm.... of the Century. Good book, terrible movie. lol

Yep, I like storm weather more then daylight weather for some reason. Just seems like a nice change from the usual sunny days we have here in California. Sun. Bah! Who needs it???

i wrote this during a storm

the storm

I close my eyes
Blocking out the empty darkness that surrounds me
Sinking deeper
Into the sweet oblivion that is myself

Thunder and lighting split the sky
Snapping me back to reality
Steeling away the moments of sweet blissful nothingness
I had obtained only moments before.

I pull the blankets a little higher
Shuddering in the silence as the storm rages around me
Drenching the world in a saturation of cleansing fury.

Another sound reaches my ears
Pounding hard against the noise of the seeming endless storm
It’s the beating of my heart, pounding with such haste
It threatens to break the very vessel that contains it.

I hear a whisper
Echoing from a long since forgotten place deep within this memory of myself
It calls to me and I listen
A song so sweet it turns the rain almost to sweet melody

It calls me deeper
Filling my mind and heart with warmth such as the fury of a storm can never dampen
The rage and tempest sink further behind me
And I am comforted by the dream once more.

I open my eyes
And gaze upon a the glory of a new day
All that was once coated with the dust and grime of an endlessly turning world
Shines with life renewed, cleansed and perfect.

I pull back the covers
Rising from the protective refuge of my bed and looking upon a clean and perfect world
I wonder at this renewed tranquility
After a night of such fury and perpetual anger

I remember my fear
Touching on the panic that drained me of my senses and threatened to rob me of my sanity
And I shudder
The storm in the heavens has past, but the storm in my heart rages on

I hold to the dream
Awaiting the day when the wind will still to a gently breeze
And the rain will become a tender shower nourishing the blossoming wonders that will surely come to bloom
The sun will shine warm and splendid
And life will be filled with the wonder of a new day.

kinda deep i know, but a lot of my poetry is. I get emotinal, i write poetry, works for me.

this is the other one i wrote in a storm.

The darkness grows
The thunder of a thousand years
A million storms
Begins to gather on the horizon
Building in torment
In strength
Sucking into itself the pain
And anguish of a diminishing world
Feeding on the hatred
And nourishing itself
With the impurities of humanity
It groans in the distance
Heavy with the load it now carries
Gluttonous and bloated
A banquet of hate and lies
Deception and greed
More than enough to nourish
A thousand such storms
And still it grows
Moving ever closer
With the stealth and power
Purposeful in its direction
Breathing heavily on the world below
A world helpless to the coming onslaught
It cries out,
Spewing forth the undigested meal
Letting lose a rush of pure fury
Drenching the world
Releasing the rage and torment
No longer contained
Exhausted, and weak
The beast retreats to feed anew.

Thunderstorms

I know we need the rain, and it can be so relaxing listening to the sounds of rain. I have also had a few romantic times during a thunderstorm.

BUT !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why does it always want to rain on my day off??????...lol

it's it funny how it can be fine all week and rain in weekends? here we call it boss's weather

Great poems!

Storm is in that "lull" stage now, but another round will be here soon. I think I'm going to get wet going to work today! Oh, well.
