A new discworld saga with Vimes and the watch central. Anyone read it yet?

I'm not asking for spoilers just informing those who may not be in the know. I didn't even realise it had been released until last week when I bought it at Asda for £9.96 (R.R.P £19.99)

I have to force myself to stop reading after a while just to make it last longer otherwise it would be done in one go.

So far, so good.

Do you yanquies get similar book prices at Walmart?

erm... Thud. Did I not make that clear? Thud. The title of the new book is Thud.

Sorry... Thud! (forgot the exclamation)

I am not sure what Vimes are, other than a band maybe and Asda is a store? So where is the link so we can share in your excitement? :)

Got it.

Got it signed.

Acted like a nervous doofus in front of one of my favorite writers.

I love my independent bookstore!

A book? Damn, I have not been to a store in WAY too long, have barely read in ages. Thanks Luc!

Lucky Bastard! :D

I love the Vimes stories, they're my favorites from the disc. I saw THUD! in the bookstore, but refuse to buy it in way overpriced hardback. I'll wait for the moderately overpriced paperback.

Is it wrong to want to shag Vimes senseless? It's complicated, at least, as I also like his wife ... but they don't seem the swinging type. Alas, the complications of erotic fantasies ...

What and leave poor Nobby out? Exclusionist.
I dated a gal in Germany whould cold have played Vimes' wife in a live-action movie based on discworld. A florid, spychotic, befreckled redhead with a temper that made bigger men than me quake in fear.

I love you. :D

Shanglan -Can I join in?vimes is kinda sexy in a rather disconcerting way *grins*though his wife does nothing for me, so you're welcome to her *chuckles*

I had a bit of a crush on Mort too, still do I guess. I love his sweet ineptitude :)

I don't have it yet, but now that I know about it, I will. Pratchett is my most favorite author and I'm doing my best to collect the entire Discworld series.

I think I enjoy the books that center on Death and Susan the most, but Vimes and his merry crew are a close second.

'ello Typo -you gotta love Death. Death is my definite favourite, but the gaurds books just have something special about'em too :)

since we're on the subject...

Angua... Woof!

That's why I mentioned Asda, Mack. They're owned by Walmart, so I was wondering if they sold books at half price too.

My hubby would rather like a bit of Angua, though he's also partial to susan too :)

Shang. You are talking about a Duke and Duchess, what's not to swing?

Apologie's to C (even though I never apologise) I thought everyone would know what the thread was specifically about, being as how I mentioned Pratchett in the title.

But then I forgot that we have some AHers who are so literarily above the common cloud that we often mistake them for the sun.
