An idea based around the novel by Neil Gaiman. Take part in the story of the immigrant Gods in the New World.
Please apply by PM and post a description of what deity or human you care to portray and for a discussion regarding the plot. Note that you don't need to chose a God/dess from the Norse pantheon but any will do if there's a good explanation as to they ended up in America. Egyptian/Greco-Roman etc. It's pretty much up to your own imagination.
Cheers

Chapter I
"That'll be a dollar fifty."
I smile at the old man as I hand him the bag of apples. Mr Rosenbaum is a regular customer. Comes in every day for his apples and has done for as long as I can remember.
Well not really, but I suppose that white lies somehow goes with the territory. I'm old, very old although I don't look a day over twenty. Long blonde hair, blue eyes. Nordic looks. What else would it be?
I've been working in the greengrocers for years now, yet no one has ever mentioned the fact that I never seem to grow older. Humans have a way of fooling themselves in so many ways. I guess that it's a necessity in order for them to survive. Begin with the little lies and then progress until they can't see the big ones even though they're right in front of them.
The greengrocers, it's so evident isn't it? Yet no one has ever made the connection, well at least not anyone who is mortal. There are a few immortals showing up from time to time. We pretend that we aren't of course, at least when there's an audience. Most others of my kind, and mind you there are more than most humans would ever believe there to be, have learned to fit in these days. You think modernity is scary for you? Try to face it being what we are. I'll tell you it's not a picknick.
Sorry I'm digressing, living a lie isn't easy but one does what one can to get by. Sometimes it seems that my past is nothing but a dream, that I'm really Jenny Anderson, granddaughter of Harry Anderson, proprietor of the Northern Fruit and Vegetables. He's not of course, for all intents and purposes I don't have a grandfather, but it suits the charade.
There was of course the Allfather, but I haven't heard of him for ages, and trust me it's not just a figure of speech. I remember when we came here. The Allfather leading us, there was his unruly sons and his daughters of course and even the enemies. The whole damn pantheon, which of course included me. I've never laid claims to belong to the top-notch, not me no. I'm a glorified servant, but one who is too important to be discarded.
I've been here a millenium now, we all have, at least my people. Can't say that we really made that much of an impact, but enough to keep us alive. It hasn't been easy, let me assure you all of that, we feed of belief and as the belief decrease so we dwindle. Immortality comes at a price you see, and sometimes I wonder if it is worth it.
Well it is obviously, one wouldn't be a goddess if one were to surrender without a fight. There are those who did and let me tell you it's not a pretty sight. Few things are so pathetic as a God who used to be. I don't blame them mind you, this world is so different, more complicated than the one in which I was born. I miss the hot springs, the endless forests, the midnight sun. Yes I do miss it, but there are other things which I don't care to see again. The youngsters going away on the longships, thinking themselves invincible. I cried for each and every one of them, because even the ones who survived would be marked, crippled, destroyed.
Yes, yes. I know. Most of my people are keen on warfare and all the other machismo bullshit. Even the women, it's all about staying at home and stoically waiting for the men to come home. Give me a break. Not that it has changed, not really, but nowadays no one pretends that it's all fine and dandy. I like to think so at least.
Oh well, I guess I've been saying to much really. And to paraphrase the Rolling Stones, can't say that I took to Guns'n'Roses rendition of the same;
"Pleased to meet you, hope you guessed my name..."
Hey, quick question. What is the average amount of time until you should give up on someone returning to a thread? Cos' I have two threads, one hasn't been replied two in a few days and the other for about a week. Both are with one other person.
The proper response to someone who hasn't posted in a while is to PM them, ask them what is going on, if they want to leave, if they are on vacation, if something is wrong.
If they don't reply to the PM within three days, you can move on.
Fact is, many writers come and go in this forum. Others get tangled up and busy with their offline selves and that sometimes takes longer than 3 days. A hospital stay most often keeps someone off the boards for longer. Home life events certainly do. And SHOULD. And let's not forget that computers often go down, too.
When is it etiquette and when is it just impatience or... rudeness? How would you feel to come back from a problem to see that someone had taken over your thread because you didn't reply to a PM from a porn board within 3 days?
I agree with you, there are many reasons that people can’t post for a few days.
The people I have no use for are the ones that put up a thread and ask to PM before posting, than they turn around and they either disappear, or they don’t even give you the courtesy of a reply to your PM telling you what ever.
She had waited for over a week. My advice to her, or anyone else was not to PM someone and after three days move on. It was that if there is a significant leave of absence by the other person, over a week or so, and then if you PM them and still get no response, then it is ok to move on. So, that would be a total of about 10, 12 days of absolutely no response from another person.
And, had you read my response to her more closely, you would have easily seen that and avoided confusion.
I mean, I can understand if someone has real life problems and they don't want to check what is going on in some writing website. But, these were her threads that she had made, and had been waiting for quite awhile. Had they been the other person's threads, I would have said just abandon them.
If you have a leave of absence of over a week, and then a Pm of over three days without response, something has happened significant in your life, and I doubt your biggest priority would be a sex story.
Besides, if it was important, you would have found a computer, five or ten minutes to tell your partner what has happened, and how long you will be away. Unless it is a real emergency where you can not find the time or access, in which case... what I said before still applies, you have more to worry about than a silly porn thread moving on without you.
Alrighty, my dears. Mimsy needs roleplay. Well, more of it, at any rate. I want to start a thread where I play a poor girl in a wooden wheeled chair.
I would like this to take place in a fantasy setting, meaning dragons and knights and the whole nine yards. I am NOT looking for some grotesque rape scene. And my character isn't going to be a frightened little mouse or a rolling whore.
I have numerous male spies, but in desperate need for a lady's touch in this thread.
Undercover agents, in the likes of James Bond, or perhaps just your favorite trashy novel. Come in, have fun, double cross someone you love in order to find out who you're real parents are.
All while using new tech gadgets and preferrably running around in skimpy outfits.
Looking for three females, to play various roles, all three of them just done High school, one is a slutty jock willing to have sex with anyone handsome, and do anything with a crush on the male character, one a sexy cheerleader, whose only sexual experiences are multiple blowjobs who is waiting for someone to treat her special before giving up her virginity, and one a bi-sexual who loves her lesbian girlfriend, but also desires some cock.
Well, since I'd rather not start one up of my own at the moment (mainly due to brain blockage in that much of the creativity department) I was wondering if anyone was in need of another writer in their threads.
However, I have been having some wandering interests in starting a variation of either Hellsing or Blood... But I have to wait for my brain to catch up with me before going into that much further.
Anyone up for a Harry Potter SRP? I am looking for all sorts of people who are good talented detailed writers to take on any characters from the books or you can create your own. Good erotic sexual themes are awesome but please keep the characters as how their personalities are in the books. It would just look silly if somebody had Lucius Malfoy suddenly hugging a teddy bear and crying like a little girl. Get my drift? LOL! It's okay if you haven't read all the books yet, (I haven't) just as long as you have seen the movies so you know whats basically going on in the Harry Potter world.
Please PM me with any interest that you may have along with your ideas and wishes to play certain characters.
Only a few more hours before the final book is here!
I'm thinking of starting a thread about a College that has only one dorm, which is co-ed. THus bringing students of all kinds together. The jocks, nerds, cheerleaders and any other type of student you can think of, all together in one place.
My character
Tom Wellington
Age:19
Always thin and weedy throughought highschool and never attracted many girls. He has thickened up between his graduation and his first semester at Crooney University. Now much more attractive and determined to be a little more popular Tom and his best friend Lara are heading to College.
One needed Character
Lara Spelligg
Highly attractive and popular. She has an unlikely but strong relationship with her best friend Tom who is severely less poplular than her. She is not a slut but she is not a virgin either.
Need At least 2 more male leads and 3 female leads, one of whom would play lara.
Please Pm me to let me know if youre interested.
Still looking for guys and girls to join this thread. It needs some players to help keep it going. It's set in a future where women have siezed control of Earth, and the men are fighting for their rights to be returned.
