a bitch i used to have would save her treat—be it filled bone, chew or whatever—till the two other dogs had eaten theirs. She'd just guard it and lick it on occasion. Once they'd finished theirs, she'd make a big display of slowly eating her own, with them drooling as they watched.

i’m not saying this is the case. But I’ve heard it said that pet take on their owners personalities.

I was fostering a Northern rescue dog (They tend to be street dogs). He ended up getting loose. So I went running after him but he was so skittish, I couldn’t get close enough to grab him.
I took a walk around the loop and could no longer spot him. I was ready to call the rescue, I turned the corner and there he was—-on my front steps with his head in a bag of dog food, that I left out during the commotion.
I was able to grab him since he never saw me coming.
